I guess I think using trek to "out bigots" doesn't make sense to me. All the way back to TOS we had minority characters. So fans of star trek are not bigots.

Modern shows have had the secondary effeft of doing this without trying.I guess I think using trek to "out bigots" doesn't make sense to me.
Not even closeI like the show so far but Sam is becoming Neelix-levels of annoying to me.
Stephen Miller has entered the chat.
I doubt he is a fan. I do think their are bigots though who do like Star Trek. Bigots like lots of things.
Google ‘Stephen Miller Star Trek.’
I know what he said about Shatner but I doubt he ever actually watched any of the episodes. I think he was just trying to take advantage of the moment of something that was trendy and that was complaining about Starfleet Academy to put in the latest rant about wokeness.
There’s a picture of him posted somewhere on the BBS where a young Miller is in a TOS Starfleet uniform.
Edit: The photo can be found here.
Dam! He was a fan. What went wrong in his head to become the person he became.
Filthy racism has no part in cultural discourse, disliking something is fine but Karim the actor is just doing his job.

When asked about the possibility of a homosexual character during the show’s Television Critics Association panel, Fuller said “absolutely we’re having a gay character,” admitting that he still has a folder full of hate mail that the writers received during “Star Trek: Voyager” (on which Fuller was a writer and co-producer) because of the rumor that Jeri Ryan’s character was going to be a lesbian
In some measures, yes in others no. Season 5 Discovery made the Neilson list more times than P3. Personally I find season 5 much better overall.Picard Season 3 was more popular then Discovery Season 5.
Uhuh.

To say nothing of the calls from fans over the kiss in Rejoined (see the DS9 Companion), or all the hate over Discovery's lead being a black woman even before the show had begun.
We've had several gay characters in STD. No one cared.
Hate over a black woman? But no hate over Avery Brooks as I recall. I think Michael Burnham was hated because she committed mutiny the first episode not because she was a black woman.
