Spoilers Starfleet Academy General Discussion Thread

I'd be upset if it's not renewed... The wait is killing... Hoping everyday by FB feed is flooded with BREAKING NEWS articles concerning the S3 renewal... But as the hope grows stronger, so is the fear... Things are not looking all that positive, and Karim's post seems to hint at things... With him saying we should be glad to have these 20 episodes, makes me think he's not expecting there to be more... :wah:
Even if SFA were to get a third season, there's no reason to expect the announcement to be made right now. The earliest such an announcement would be made would be Comic Con in July, though I personally still wouldn't expect anything to be announced prior to 2027. Season 2's early renewal announcement was itself unusual and should not be considered precedent setting.

Actually if they want to minimize cost now would be about the time to announce it.

Otherwise the actors and crew are going to need to take on other jobs to make ends meet, at which point it could take a year or more before they can restart production.

Picard Season 3 was more popular then Discovery Season 5.

That’s not exactly a high bar.

It generated an intense nostalgia fueled dopamine rush on first viewing but after the miasma faded a couple of weeks after the finale it turned incredibly sour

I watched it again a few months after it finished. I was never a huge fan of it, but the plot seams were more than apparent on a second viewing.

I liked that season and it was glorified fanfic with a huge budget.

There are some good fist pumping moments. But the plot really falls apart the moment you apply an ounce of logic to it.

Sorry, wasn’t very clear…

One could consider Disco season 4’s Tilly-centric “All is Possible,” which has a story with Academy students as a backdoor pilot to SFA.

In an odd juxtaposition to the way things usually go with Discovery, the failure of that particular episode can be laid on the feet of the director and not the writers.

Because the episode itself was basically just DS9's The Ascent. But where everything broke down was the CGI sound stage.

making Legacy would be almost like rewarding that toxic segment of the fandom who have been rubbishing Disco and now SFA for years

Whether they ever do it not I think making a decision just because it might please the wrong people is always the wrong thing to do. It's sort of like Pandering. I would want them to make the show because they think it will be good. be Dam what people on social media might think. If the show is good or not would be the ultimate thing worth judging it on.

Yeah, except I’m talking about Picard season 3.
