I'm still staggered over the line in the last episode where (I think) La'an asks Chapel if she can "trust Spock to behave around Korby". We're adults! We're all like forty! And we're astronauts entrusted with rank and responsibility! It's not a high school playground!!!

I think you'll find even real world astronauts pushing 40 can behave like they're on a high school playground.

I think Star Trek is about ideas and moral parables through interesting characters in a positive and forward thinking setting that is more fantasy than being a realistic depiction of what the future will look like.

Scotty was supposed to have all his fingers in TOS, and whenever they did a closeup of his hands, they got a double who had all his fingers. However, there are plenty of shots of Doohan where the fact he's missing a finger is very visible.
