Jesus. This guy. WTF.

Please what did I say that sounded outlandish. In Spock amok episode 5, chapel reveals she has a messy love life to the point she is scared of commitment. she also reveals she has been in relationship with women and is openly bi and we know in the end she joins the enterprise to look for her fiance. so my theory of how chapel arc may go is not too far fetched, in fact i think it may be too predictable now that I will want to be wrong.

Also It will be wrong to queer-bait, the show runners cannot just drop the plot point that chapel likes to date women and not explore it. queer-baiting is a no no in fandoms and a lot of lgbtq audience don't apperciate it.

We also know spock is still engaged to tpring by tos and he meets some woman called leia kemoni we see in the side of paradise that is romantically familiar with.

So I do feel a lot of this factors will play in soon. maybe this is why episode 1 gave us so much spock/chapel stuff that some felt forced. they want to burn through it before the season is over, since the creators of the show said, they treated season 2 like their last season and if it was their last season.

Picard got only 3 seasons and from what i fugured snw does not get near the ratings of discovery that barely chats on the nelson rating since paramount is giving away free episodes on youtube. if you live in the usa, you can watch season 1 for free on youtube and the first episode of season 2. this should not be so considering disney or hbo will never do that.

I dont blame the creators for saying they treated season 2 like their last even if we know there is a season 3. that may be their true last season. so it may make the best sense to finally settle the spock/tpring/chapel love triangle by the end of season 2. so we can have other stories that we see in tos. like how spock meets leia or how chapel met and fell in love with korby and how stonn stole tpring's heart.

think it is a major part of the story, something went bad with spock that made chapel as she is in tos. It also means even when she gets engaged to korby, she is still in love with spock.
Ok. And? That's not going to be the only data point.

However none of this matters as long as they keep saying SNW is prime star trek. these actors are going to start acting like their tos self soon. SNW uhura will become what nichelle tos uhura became and snw chapel will become with tos chapel became, same goes for Peck's Spock.
Then why watch it? None of it matters.
Jesus. This guy. WTF.
Again, it's dissatisfaction with the show and trying to reconcile the cognitive dissonance.

in all fairness i dont think it is fair to say i have a 100% dissatisfaction with the show, sure i have some issues with it like some or many, however what i am not doing is boldly claiming the show has nothing to do with tos or is not going to become what episode 3 was in star wars lore. episode 3 was what bridged and merged the prequel and sequel trilogy that made everything make some good sense and I feel snw is going to start playing up to that soon. it has too. which is what i am point out.

i am more taken back by some insinuating this will not be the case to the point i am now meant to suspend any sense of believe to buy that uhura was always the wesley crusher of the tos crew era. Nope to that.

Of course not. But it's not 1 to 1. It's like Tora Tora Tora vs. Midway. Different perspective on events in the telling.

That's all. No justification needed.

Why did It have to be a time travel story? I hate time travel stories. So pointlessly recursive. The setting sucked. I want to see wild and fantastical science fiction planets. I do not want to see toronto in modern day. Lazy and boring.

Why is kirk an LT? I thought he was supposed to be a first officer aka a commander by now.

Khan's great grand daughter has a crush on kirk? Why? Is she gonna be pregnant now? She was so emotionally distraught. I dont think it was just from her, having to defend the star trek version of hitler.

This story should not exist. It's just self referential writing by inexperienced writers to keep audiences hooked. It's a setup for something else down the pipeline. I can feel it.

This episode was full of pointless chekhov's guns by bad writers. Dont tell it's the strikes fault. This was completed before the strike.

Based on what? Nothing in TOS covers Kirk's time as a commander or as an XO, only as a Lieutenant and an Ensign.

Nah, Trek does these all of the time. This one was better than most.

Keeping the audience hooked is literally part the writers job

Can you name these "Chekhov's guns?" Who's blaming the strike? Why would anyone blame the strike. What a bizarre comment.

Kirk was a Lieutenant in 2255 and 2257 according to two different episodes of TOS. Why can't he still be a Lieutenant in 2260? He's still only 27 years old. Most officers in Starfleet are lucky to be full Lieutenants by 27.

I dont know the star trek timeline apart from the basics. It just feels weird to me that kirk's career has stagnated. I mean if this show is supposed to follow TOS timeline then shouldn't his rank be much higher by now? At least an LT commander? Wait lemme guess, the genius writers are going to make pike recommend kirk for the farragut. Then make pike forcibly make kirk take over the enterprise from him. Because of what he saw in the time crystal. So boring and predictable. I bet you the writers are reading these forums right now and are like 'OH SHIT WE'VE BEEN FIGURED OUT!' I wouldn't be surprised. After all didn't star trek get sued by bablyon 5 creators over ds9? I know it was long time ago but it still happens.

But that's the thing. Time travel stories are lazy. In star trek. time travel stories exist to either maintain the status quo. I hated star trek 4 whales in space, because it was so damn stupid. Why time travel? Why not find a way to infiltrate the whale ship and blow it up from the inside out? The message of saving the whales could still be there. But in a less contemptuous fashion. And that's what I hate about star trek time travel stories. They have nothing but contempt for contemporary times. It's like the writers are nagging us, by having the characters tell us to "do better." Better with what? Well shit. That's easy for them to say, because they come from a post scarcity society. We're here still fighting over scraps. And you future/alien bastards gloat from your pedestal upon high, about how backwards we are. How we should just 'do better' and be more like you. When we dont know how. And you refuse to help us! It feels very colonialist and sneering imperialist to me. Like when churchill starved bengal. Or when stalin starved the ukraine.

Singh's emotional breakdown at the end feels like a red flag to me. I know it's going to affect her character later down the line somehow, some way. I've seen this before. Lemme guess she's going to sacrifice herself outta love for kirk and he'll never know why. God I shivered with cringe. It reads like something from tumblr.

Oh the writer has been doing it professionally for over a decade. How about you?
You put to much faith in people with titles and accreditations.

I dont watch a lot of modern shows because they're so damn bad. Because the writing is shit. Because modern writers have zero real world experience and only write what they've already seen. I call them sheltered writers. Overly educated. With zero street smarts. They're people who've studied their craft in the classroom but know nothing of it in a practical sense. You can just tell who they are, by the way they write. It feels shallow and hollow. Their writing has no depth, no soul, no greater meaning behind it. On the surface it looks competent. But scratch it just a little bit and there's nothing there. Just emptiness.

Let me put it in a way you might understand. Modern hollywood writing is fraudulent. It's like a virgin who thinks he knows there's all to know about sex from pornos. But he's scared to touch a real breathing woman. I was that virgin once. Sure porn taught me the basics. But it didn't prepare me for the reality of intimate physical contact.

I simply point out the error of calling the writer "inexperienced".

Over react much? That was all over the map. How may time travel episodes have the "do better theme"? They save that for when visiting "primitive planets" struggling with problems solved by the Federation long ago.

What a load of hogwash.
I'm in my sixties. I've heard this type of complaint for decades." Wah wah wah. The good ol'days " Ridiculous. No era's writers are all great and none are all hacks.

Writing the same immature crap from the safety of an institution does not increase your skill. Nor expand your scope on life. Many authors wrote their greatest works after formative real life experiences. Tolkien, Orwell, Hemmingway. Etc.

And when she doesn't?
I would be so happy. I truly, truly hope that she doesn't. I hope at least one SNW writer is on here right now, reading these forums, and rethinking future plot plans. Because if a normal working class guy like me can figure things out. Then it aint a good plot. Now is it? I want to be surprised. That's what contemporary writing lacks; A surprise. The last time I was surprised was at the end of infinity war. But sadly it was undone by endgame.

I love primitive planet episodes. Because they have to think around the issue. In those episodes they have to respect the prime directive. They cant just pull out phazers and dominate the primitives. But when it comes to earth in the past, they're so condescending that it pisses me off. Again in star trek 4, Mccoy's condemnation of 20th century medicine rubbed me the wrong way.

DS9 had really strong writing. Especially during the dominion war arc. The cardassians were very well written. They were suns of bitches and they were glorious at it. Dukat, Damar, Garak, they were fun to watch. Not to forget Weyoun. Infact almost all the original non federation aligned characters in DS9 were just done so well.

TNG devolved into pretentious technobabble when all the leftover TOS scripts ran out. TOS was campy but still fun.
