Was Peck talking about Chapel? Every character will be handled differently. Chapel had no character is TOS , so there is nothing to evolve into. If she is impacted by Korby going missing it won’t be by becoming the paper thin Chapel of TOS. The writing is better than that.

well there is still the option, that something VERY dramatic happens that changes her personality to that of her TOS version, but I'm not looking forward to that
HMMM, I don't think a relationship with spock in snw will feel creepy since this is a prequel to TOS and by TOS Spock seem to admire and was more fond of uhura than chapel or even tpring he is in a relationship with in SNW. He spoke to tping only once in 79 episodes and he ignores Chapel for the episodes she was in. that is what feels kind of creepy since SNW has him deep in a love triangle with Tpring/Chapel that he barely acknowledges in 10 years.
Also when you say creepy? are you referring to age? I see Uhura the character in SNW as the same age as the rest of the crew even if the actress (celia gooding) is much much younger, although I was a bit surprised that gooding is only in her early 20s while the other cast members were in their 30s.
TOS Uhura (Nichelle Nichols) would have been 90 this year, she was in the same age group as Nimoy, Takei and Shatner and that is how we need to see SNW Uhura too, despite the fact they cast a much younger actress. in the MCU Elizabeth Olsen is much younger than Paul Bettney and they make a cute couple as Vision/Wanda.
I have seen some shot with Uhura and kirk sharing a drink from episode 6 and while I know wesley in about 18 years older than Gooding, I still think of the kiss they will have in TOS and it is not creepy.
Also Uhura already flirted with Spock in TOS, that was more enduring than Chapel unrequited love. some scenes with her and spock suggested too much that the creators had to cut it out because it was to suggestive for the 1960s unlike her kiss with kirk where they were brianwashed to kiss and barely even a kiss. (I think this is why nichelle wanted to quit before Martin Luther King told her to stay). Nichelle said she used to do many scenes in tos that never made air. Here is one with spock that was quite steaming for the 1960s but was cut out of the final episode.
So Remember, SNW becomes these characters. their fates are sealed.
Lastly I thought Uhura for now in SNW was the LGBTQ one because I read a star trek piece on the advocate that features the lgbtq actors from discovery and the piece said, Trek is commited to casting lgbtq actors in lgbtz roles. I will have put my money on uhura been bisexual and not chapel since Celia is the only actor I know so far that is LGBTQ plus in the cast. She identifies as bi-sexual and non binary and uses the pronouns they/she.
She's an extremely inexperienced junior officer who graduated from the Academy less than six months ago and was a cadet. He's a senior officer and in her direct chain of command. He is, at minimum, seven years older than her with a great deal more life experience and professional experience.
In this context, a Spock/Nyota relationship would be a textbook example of creating a hostile work environment and would be extremely inappropriate given the power disparities between them.
That is completely irrelevant to the factors that make a relationship appropriate or inappropriate during the SNW timeframe.

TOS never established Nyota's age range. SNW has. She is, at minimum, seven years younger than Spock. She is canonically in her late teens or early 20s and there's no way around that.
Elizabeth Olsen's character first became attracted to Paul Bettany's character in a film released when Olsen was 27 -- notably older than Gooding is in real life and notably older than Nyota is canonically.
The kiss Jim and Nyota have in TOS is the very definition of creepy, because neither one consented to it. They were forced to kiss by aliens hijacking their bodies. This is literally a form of sexual assault.
That hasn't happened yet. When Nyota flirts with Spock in TOS S1, it's 2266 -- six or seven years after current SNW. Nyota is by this point in her late twenties and has much more life experience and professional experience.

yes, infact chapel so far has the most obvious story leading into TOS. spock breaks her heart. he maybe stick with tpring, we know he is still engaged too or meets leia keloni from the side of paradise and develops feeling for her and chapel is heart broken and that changes her.
it is clear that chapel is who she is in tos because something went down with her and spock that did not end well and yet some still want to pretend the obvious is not there.
Although every trailer has context, in season 2 second trailer she and spock kiss and spock looks more reluctant to kiss her (asking her what it means) while chapel say she does not know and she initiates a kiss. in the trailer she comes off as worried, scared to the point of having a breakdown. You can here jess bush's voice crack.
Again I am only trying to put this in context based on the trailer. However I think it is clear where chapel's story is going to explain why she is that way in TOS. infact it will have been very good and much better than them having Pike know his own tragic fate if not for the fact that the spock/tpring/chapel thing is to far off from tos canon and should never have been.

How old are the characters in trek alpha wiki? in trek lore uhura is meant to be a year younger kirk if memory serves. it is not relevant if she is a cadet either. a lot of romantic relationship form between a person in a higher position. did you know obama meet his wife when she was already an executive in a law firm and he was an intern?
If I remember correctly, sometimes last year I did wonder and worry about why uhura looks much younger than everyone else, however I was told by some fans here that it is not really relevant and I was reading too much into it...but you seem to be making a big deal. truth is, I don't really care for ages since tos implies they were all around the same age apart from checkov and this is a true prequel to tos.

No she is not in canon, been a cadet in starfleet is not about age. Bones in the kelvinverse was already an established doctor implied to be much older than kirk and he had to be a cadet to join star fleet.
starfleet does not take people by age. they take people by experience.

Oh please it is not all that creepy in context of science fiction and as a person of colour I will kindly ask that you have some social awareness. it was a big deal for interracial relationships and was a major shift on tv. also did you know the kiss was meant to be with spock until shatner told them to change it to kirk/uhura?

Yes we dont know but uhura could possibly indeed be bi-sexual if streaming trek stays true to their word of hiring lgbtq actors for lgtq roles unless another actor on the show is lgbtq but has not come out to say it yet.
Jesse James Keitel who plays Angel from season 1 episode 7 is a transgender woman in real life and her character was transgender or non binary too. So the creators of these new trek show are mostly sticking to their pledge of casting lgbtq actors in lgbtq roles.

I'm aware and yes I agree. But this idea that we know the outcome assumes much with any idea of how they get there.
I think it is a major part of the story, something went bad with spock that made chapel as she is in tos. It also means even when she gets engaged to korby, she is still in love with spock.
Now when it comes to uhura's been younger. I wonder if this was a conscious decision by the writers because they thought making her younger will not make people think much of the saldana version even if 99% of trek fans already know saldana version in an alternate uhura.
To be real, in mainstream media uhura is perhaps the best known female character to be a love interest to spock thanks to the kelvin films. she is also the only female character that is part of the core 7 in TOS .
the first JJ film in 2009 was very very successful and made star trek popular even in a way tos never did in its prime. the kelvin cast are still more known in media and pop culture than snw cast ever will be.
In fact i am curious about snw ratings because paramount once said, the show was their most watched trek show since Prodigy that got cancelled and paramount gives away free episodes on snw on youtube. this can only mean the ratings are very low. lower than discovery that no one talked about in mainstream media after season 1.
SNW is popular with many old school trek fans but has not seen major mainstream success like TNG did or TOS became later in pop culture or the first Kelvin movie.
i do wonder part of the reason why we got an uhura you are all trying to point is much much younger that feels like a big deal. the showrunners were worried that if they had cast an ''older uhura'', some who are aware of the kelvin films will wonder why she is not spock's interest here, so making her much younger was a way to make sure uhura does not derail any of the angles of the spock/chapel/trping love triangle.
Not to mention in TOS, while spock is mostly paired with kirk as a lover by fans. uhura was more favoured as a female partner to pair spock with than chapel they found boring or tpring they found to be a cruel person. Although I do credit a lot of this to people having so much love for nichelle nichols and uhura been one of the few black female characters on tv that broke grounds in portraying black women in a great light apart from the usual maid roles. This is who SNW Uhura will still become.
I think Uhura by star trek lore going into this show was obviously more established and more well known than both Chapel and Tpring and the creators of the show felt they had no choice but to make her younger than everyone else, so people don't see her as a love interest to spock or even kirk. which should be creepy to some since kirk is kind of dating khan decedent based on the creepy logic of youngness.
However none of this matters as long as they keep saying SNW is prime star trek. these actors are going to start acting like their tos self soon. SNW uhura will become what nichelle tos uhura became and snw chapel will become with tos chapel became, same goes for Peck's Spock.
the only character I truly feel sorry for is Pike because he is aware of what is to come.
ehh..this is not a great example to what is discussed because as you said, we know the ship sinks. that fate of the ship is sealed. some here are trying to ignore the fate of snw characters by pretending
