Strange New Worlds Season 2 Trailer

A decent trailer overall, but I'm beyond fucking sick of Trek going back to "the past", aka our present. Star Trek IV is probably the last time it worked, and its pretty obvious they do it to save money by just filming in real life locations using normal clothes, with the story coming a distant second. At least it will probably only be for one episode this time, unlike the terrible 4/5 ths of a season that Picard Season 2 spent in "the past".

Still, besides that its looking good (glad to see we're definitely sticking with normal Klingons even in SNW), and I'm excited to see the show return.

Kirk not knowing how to use a revolving door because he's "from space" makes me think maybe they're using Federation: The First 150 Years as backstory (they've drawn from it before in Picard and Prodigy) because it had Kirk Prime born on the Kelvin too, as opposed to the fan theory that in Prime the Kelvin made it to Earth and he was born in Iowa.

I remember people saying Kelvin Kirk being born in space is the reason he had blue eyes. So if the new prime kirk doesn't have blue eyes then he is from Iowa.

People seem to constantly take anything a character in Star Trek says as absolute truth. This isn’t how people work and will say the thing with the most meaning to them (this doesn’t make it a lie).

Personally I was born in a hospital in City A, I never lived there I grew up in city B until I was about 20 and now I live in city C.

In a social situation if someone asked where I was from I’d say “I’m originally from B but now live in C”.

In a work situation I’d say I’m from C.

Where I was actually born wouldn’t come uk unless I was specifically asked that.

Prime Kirk could have been born anywhere but probably grew up in Iowa. Starting from a fairly young age he probably spent most of his time in space before ending up working there.

This is all fine it’s not a factual inconsistency to say two different things in two different situations.

People forget that DSC Klingons owed so much to Robert Fletcher's preliminary design for TMP's Klingons, right down to their alien fingers!
