Given the bills currently being introduced in many state legislatures in the US, your assertion is demonstrably false.

I am not from the US, so I don't really know what's going on there. But in Europe they handle things differently, especially in Germany.

That's not the issue. Was the episode subtle?

It was about an addiction, how subtle can it be?

And I bet that a lot more people are porn addicts than trans, so that episode had much more relevance to the general public. Which does not mean that I underestimate the problems that trans people have.

That's the topic yes? Being "in your face"?
Still waiting for examples from DISCO or any other current trek show being "in your face" about LBGTQ+.

Exactly, they're just allowed to exist and treated like anyone else. They've never even said gay or trans, Paul and Hugh are just treated like any other couple like Worf and Dax or Tom Paris and B'elanna. Adira asks to be called by non-binary pronouns and it's never commented on, it's just respected. I don't know how they could tone it down anymore without having these characters at all, which honestly seems like the desire.

Sybok's world view was known to Spock, so at this point I do not believe they have met and talked.

So throughout Strange New Worlds, Spock needs to get to know Sybok a little. We may even get to see him trying to form his cult of followers. Maybe this took a long time, if Spock actively tried to seek him out.

"Spock! ...Spock! It's me. It's Sybok. After all these years you've finally caught up with me. Don't you have anything to say to me?"

and later...

"When he encouraged others to follow him, he was banished from Vulcan, never to return."

Sybok then needs to escape captivity, and go on the run - or is formally exhiled.
Except that at one point in ST5 Spock says that he and Sybok were "raised together".

Existence. Apparently that's "in your face."

Adira and Tal? Did they have any purpose in Discovery, other than to "represent" trans people?
They were interesting characters in their own right and had plotlines. Same as anyone else. I don't recall being trans as overly important. Like more than a few characters, they got lost in the shuffle when the show moved on from their storylines.
What else you got?

Adira and Tal? Did they have any purpose in Discovery, other than to "represent" trans people?
Grey's purpose is to be a wiz kid and adopted child of Paul and Hugh, they have a love story with their partner Grey and it's been the basis for most of their storyline so far. They help the crew adapt to 32nd century tech since they have more experience with it. They just happen to be trans too, reducing them to just trans representation is a severe misunderstanding of them as a character.

Does Kirk have any purpose other than to represent cisgender and heterosexual males? If you can reduce Adira to just an aspect of their identity, you can do it to any of them.

There's a valid argument to be made that Adira and Tal weren't given enough to do and ended up being glorified background characters. But them being trans wasn't the driving force of an "in your face" agenda to alienate the audience any more than Janeway being a woman was part of some diabolical plan to piss off viewers of 1990s Trek in pursuit of some woke Clinton Era agenda.

Here is another idea: You just keep it to yourself!

(shamelessly stolen from Dennis)

There's that same "I am rubber, you are glue" defense again. You're playing one-dimensional checkers while everyone else is playing three-dimensional chess.

You brought the subject up, out of the blue, on a discussion board, and now you don't want people to discuss the bigoted comments you made? The onus is on you to keep it to yourself, champ, not everyone else. We just want to enjoy our shows without being reminded of the ugly side of fandom every five minutes.

Bigotry is not permitted in this forum. Calling out and opposing bigotry for what it is on the other hand, is both permitted and a moral and ethical responsibility for reasonable people.

You haven't said anything people haven't heard a million times before. It's nothing new or interesting or constructive. It's just the sad refrain of an ignorant person being passed over by life, and boring everyone else with your issues. You're the one hammering shit into people's heads. People like you have existed as long as their have been people, and sadly once they're over punching down on LGBTQ people they'll just move on to another easy target, because there's always got to be someone to fear, and hate, and treat as a lesser, and blame for all your personal problems. It's pathetic.
