Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

I'm not sure what the difference is or if it's just me, but this production feels more expensive than the other current Trek series, and those shows certainly don't feel cheap.

I think after learning to use it in Discovery season 4, the visual effects staff is really getting good with, and getting their money out of the new AR wall.

I think that's part of it, definitely. I think it's also partly the higher number of big, wide shots and the general weirdness of the ship and planet designs. It just feels fresh.

I think it’s definitely Spock fighting Spock on Vulcan, seems like a dream or vision… don’t know if that has been mentioned or noticed before..!
I think so, but if not perhaps we can get a dramatic recreation of this scene!

That is absolutely a fight between Vulcan Spock and Human Spock. He's got human eyebrows, human ears and even human hair! It's been a long time since we've seen a half-human character split into two people like this in Star Trek (I'm thinking it's a dream sequence though).

I guess this makes star trek 2009 even more fulfilling, since we know the outcome. Spock at an elderly old age is now at peace with his vulcan and human self, even telling the alternate young spock, to put aside logic and do what feels right.

I do wish the writers still take it easy though.

Is there a part in some SNW trailer where Starfleet officers are being chased by natives and have to run onto a Starfleet saucer section?. I thought I read it in an article and someone compared it to the scenes on Nibiru in Into Darkness. But I'm not sure sure now if this was real or something I dreamt or something I made up

No...none of the shows following after STAR TREK looked like STAR TREK. Yes, they were part of the (now) Star Trek Franchise™; but they didn't look anything like STAR TREK.
I guess perhaps when we say "Star Trek" we should specify, then.

And I think that Star Trek (the 2009 movie) made some efforts to feel and look like Star Trek (the show).

The 2009 movie took its visual inspiration from the approach of the original Star Trek and from 1960s design culture in general, with only a light dusting of ST:TMP where the details of the ship exterior were concerned.

And weighs it did but it honestly didn't look like TOS ( a being set in a different Universe/Ttimeline, I really didn't expect it to either.)
