An Observation About diversity on Discovery, 32nd Century

They're around. We just don't see them.

Like we never saw other Vulcans in Starfleet in TOS but - clearly, as evidenced by the 400 Vulcan crewmembers of the U.S.S. Intrepid - they were around.

Has anyone else noticed that there aren't very many black people in the 32nd century? The only black people I have seen are Burnham, Booker, Doc, and O. I haven't see any black people in the back ground at Starfleet HQ in the 32nd century.

Has anyone else seen black people in the background of Starfleet HQ or any other episode after the jump to the future?

I wonder what happened to them between the battle with Control and the 32nd century.

A good place to start would be with the casting people in Vancouver.

Welcome to Space: 1951.

But Disco we see very few Asians or Black people. Lots of aliens though. Aliens meaning, not from Earth.

Not enough aliens for me. I was noticing the lack of aliens in the background at Starfleet command. I want to know which 30-some Federation members are still in.

There should be way more aliens. You would think less than 5% of Starfleet would be human. On the Discovery it might make more sense, but definitely not in 31st century Starfleet.

Depends on what the other aliens want. Humans seem to have that exploratory spirit. That doesn't mean all aliens will.

Yes, to more aliens. But, humans kind of come with it.

If I had my way maybe one in five background characters would be human. The four aliens would all be different. :)

Your imagination goes to some very odd places.

The magnetic couplers have been repaired. No more odd places, as long as the plating holds.

...the Burn caused tens of thousands of ships, hundreds of stations and starbases to explode across the galaxy. Millions of dead floating lifeless in the vaccum of space and twisted hulls of starships for the last 125 years.

That's not counting the thousands of worlds with cities on them....billions of people dependent upon dilithium for everyday operations.

It's doubtfull that Discovery will be a cheerful ship after season four. Especially after the first city they come acorss...only their bones and the wild that gnawled on them will be found.
Then there are the mutations to DNA of people effected by the Burn.

We can't forget about those who were transported into one of the three dimensions dilithium exists in either.

What the Discovery jumped into in the 32nd century is more than just some lost starships. Discovery jumped into a galaxy wide Ground Zero, a graveyard of the past.

Over a century gives you some time to begin to rebuild, something directly shown on the show so far. I’m so not sure what that has to do with the notion that the black people shown so far represents the majority of the remaining population. The show only shows so much and it’s absurd to think that we’re getting the entire picture of the galaxy based on what we’ve seen. This is a casting problem, not a plot element.
