Is it weird that there’s a dude where I work who looks damn near just like that? With hair, though...

IDK, not really exited about the fact that it's a prequel. Especially one set in the 23rd century.
I mean it will depend on the characters (I hope there will be a large ensemble than just Pike, Una and Spock, and that those additional characters will be original creations), tone and overall writing.
One the other hand if this ends up being good, I might enjoy it more than Picard...

Just like with Disocvery and Picard I'll give it a chance when it comes out.

But I would prefer a completely new series. With no TOS characters, no 90s Trek characters, just a new scenario and cast.

I can understand people wanting Picard to be more like TNG. Even though things in the 24th Century changed after TNG, Picard is still based off it and continuing its story.

But Strange New Worlds should be like "The Cage" plus modern production values but minus the sexism.

I don't even know if I even really see it as a prequel. I see it as more like a series (that was definitely not a prequel when it was being pitched) is finally being picked up 55 years later.

I didn't know about the possible Pike series until a article of it in the Star Trek page on Facebook in my newsfeed.

That is awesome we are getting a Pike series and I'll definately be watching it.

If we get a Kirk series after Pike, I would as well.

I'm really looking forward to this show.

Funny, but I find that in the past I have enjoyed Trek shows much, much more when I've disregarded fan opinions and reviews. It's almost like a pattern.

I can't wait to collect more data. :techman:

If SNW doesn't take place in the post-Voyager time frame, aboard a new ship with a new crew (a dolphin captain, Half-Pakled science officer, Cardassians CMO, and Horta Chief of Security), and focus heavily on the aftermath of the Dominion War, the geopolitical circumstances surrounding the Breen and Tzinkathi, and the future of Bajor, it's total garbage.

Oh and let Ronald D. Moore and Maurice Hurley run the show and not all these other hacks.

And it should be episodic. But not TOO episodic. Just enough for me personally to approve of. And have exploration. But also galactic politics. And every episode should have an intellectual conundrum or ethics dilemma to solve. But it also needs to be fun and not take things too seriously. But not TOO fun.

And it needs lots of Gene's Vision. But also let's push the boundaries and challenge things. But keep it optimistic and make sure rainbows and unicorns appear fairly frequently. But realism and drama are also important

And make sure it adheres to canon and references things from other Trek productions. But no FANWANK..definitely no FANWANK!!!1!1!

And it should be diverse and woke as fuck......but not cater to the SJW crowd. No wut I'm sane???

Or otherwise I riot in the streets like it's the Red Hour.

    EVERYTHING is different now.

StarTrek is not aired on tv or Cable TV anymore (except in Canada, maybe?), with "the streaming war" (I don't think of it as a war, indeed), we need and we consume more quantity of content; now no one will need to turn off the TV if something doesn't like him, just go to consume something that fit its expectations.

I think this are great news.

Wouldn't it be a blast if John Billingsly reprises Dr Phlox for Chief Medical Officer?!

I am a huge TNG person and I am thrilled with this news. And you know TNG is more than that.

Just make it entertaining, and if you do an arc, for the love of God figure out how to stick the landing.
