Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

While to some extent, I agree and sympathize, if you go back through the entire franchise, I believe you'll find that maybe 20% of all the stories were geared toward exploration and boldly going.
I mean, how many episodes was it before we had a robot copy of Kirk?

I like Discovery and Picard for the most part and am fine with the serialized storytelling (I prefer it in the case of Picard), but Strange New Worlds does seem like the perfect opportunity to so something a little more old school and episodic. That doesn't mean Disco and Picard have to switch over to being episodic, it just means that that's how STW will be different than the other two shows - by being episodic. The streaming format gives you the opportunity have have your cake and eat it too.

I didn't like PIC and I didn't like DIS and I didn't like NuTrek. I'm gonna do a easy pass. I bet they won't even mention the Sheliak or w/e.

I definitely do not think that about DSC. I like DSC! We are in the middle of a trek renaissance and all people can do is crap on the whole franchise and it’s sad.

We’ll come to a time, circa 2035, when the second golden age of Star Trek has fully ended and the franchise is in total stasis again, and the loudest critics of the 2017-onward era will abruptly lament the passing of a friend. “In hindsight,” a 2036 internet thread will read, “Kurtzman Trek was actually pretty OK.”
