I don't really think in terms of being able to relate to any Star Trek characters. When I first read Nick Hornby's High Fidelity I thought I could relate a bit to the main character, but many years later when I reread the book and rewatched the movie I thought, wow, this guy's an asshole. So even if I did relate to some Star Trek character when I was younger I'd probably have rethought that later on.
