What was the first ST movie you ever saw in theaters?

I believe my first theatrical Trek viewing was TWOK, though I was only two years old and remember nothing. My brother was being born right around then and my dad went to see it and took me along. Though I don't know the circumstances or if it was before or after the birth (my brother's birthday is the 16th and the movie was released on the 4th). I can easily imagine my mom ordering my dad away for a few hours to give her some space. I assume that's what happened.

After that, the only one I definitely remember was TUC. Which I saw a few weeks into its run when I was 11. And I've seen every other Trek film on opening night ever since.

I did get to see TWOK as an adult in a theater a few years ago; a local theater-pub got hold of an old print and showed it one weekend. It was spectacular. And all the better with beer and pizza! Before the movie they played the trailer for Revenge of the Jedi. I think it was the only one before they changed it to Return.

The Motion Picture for me. My parents dropped me off at the movie theater. There was a bit of a thunderstorm. It actually synched well with V'Ger's forboding.

But do you remember seeing ST III, IV, V and 6 in theaters as a kid?

I *think* I saw Generations in theaters? I don't remember though.

The first Trek movie I know I saw in theaters was the 2009 film.

I'm proud to say that I have seen EVERY Trek movie in the theater, sometimes more than once. And usually opening weekend . . ..

Took me about a week to get to the last one, due to deadlines and car issues. Drove me nuts. :)

Yep, I've also seen them all in the theater during their first runs. All of them from TMP to Nemesis more than once, the last two, only once each. This is because the year after Nemesis came out, my CP got so bad that I have been unable to drive for the last 12 years, so multiple viewings of the reboots have had to be on DVD.

I've seen all of them since TUC in the theater, but FC and the 2009 film are the only ones I saw more than once on the big screen.

Now you want to talk about seeing something on the big screen multiple times, I think I saw FOTR 4 times and TTT 5 times.

...but I did see them all on VHS before 1991, repeatedly, so I was familiar with the franchise before I saw TUC. I've been a Trekkie since I was six or seven.

TMP on opening weekend in Brampton, Ontario. I, too have seen every Trek film, some several times, in theatres. Looking forward to the next one, too.

I will never forget that night. I was a boy and on Friday December 7th 1979 we saw TMP. :vulcan: The refit 1701 was so very impressive and majestic on the big screen. :adore:

TMP, opening weekend Saturday, twice, because our ride failed to show up after the first showing!

Star Trek VI, in April 1992 (it was released later in the UK than the US).

I have seen every Trek film since at the cinema, with the exception of "Into Darkness" (not a comment on quality of the film, just didn't get around to seeing it at the cinema!)

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, i was 8 years old. I still have a vague memory of the packed theatre of people all standing up at the end, when the crew is flying into spacedock for their new ship. When the Enterprise-A is unveiled, i remember the theatre clapping and screaming like crazy. I have more memories of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. I think i bugged my mom to take me to see that one 3 times in the first few weeks it was out. It's still my favorite TOS film.

The first Star Trek movie I saw in the theater was Star Trek III on my high school graduation day. While I would've been old enough to see TMP and TWOK in their first run, family money issues and conservative parents prevented it. Since then I have seen all the films in the theaters, but only one time each except for TVH. After I saw that in college, I had to treat my parents to a viewing during the holiday break.
