What was the first ST movie you ever saw in theaters?

TMP showed that the Enterprise had lots of features I wasn't aware of at the time. I didn't know they had or would need an elevator to the top of the saucer but there you go they have one.

Would that be used for crew or cargo?

I went to see The Motion Picture when it first came out in theaters. Not my favorite of the films, but there was something exciting about seeing it go from TV to movies.

Star Trek Generations. The summer of 94 I caught most of Star Trek VI with a neighbor friend and I immediately fell in love and watched the rest of the movies to lead up to part seven in November.

My first movie in theatres was Star Trek generations. My poor mum who was not a fan (although loved the theme to Star Trek voyager) had to sit through that board out of her mind. I however loved seeing the Enterprise D on the big screen

I'm 33 (born in 1984), so my memory is fuzzy as early as 1988, so it could have been The Final Frontier. I remember, seeing Ghostbusters 2 in theaters so it is possible, I could have seen Frontier in 1989. I am 100% certain I saw Undiscovered Country in theaters in 1991.

"Paramount Theatre, Sydney, Australia, 1979."
by Ian McLean, on Flickr

Sydney’s long-defunct Paramount Theatre, which hosted the premiere and theatrical run of the movie “Star Trek: The Motion Picture” from December 1979 and through the early months of 1980. For decades I’ve have searched for a photograph with its “Star Trek” marquee displayed, without success, so here is my watercolour and ink sketch, based on several photographs, and using collaged and miniaturised original publicity materials.

TMP, on its initial run, with one of my friends and my dad... my friend and I were only 8 or 9 and the main reason we went is because my dad dragged us.

The Motion Picture, on its original run in 1979.

In fact, I saw every Star Trek movie on its original theatrical run, EXCEPT for Wrath of Khan. I finally saw TWoK on the big screen in early 2008, when our local independent theater here in Morgantown screened the first three films in anticipation of the JJ Abrams reboot.

I have seen every Trek film since The Undiscovered Country on either its official opening night or (with Trek 09 and Beyond) the Thursday preview night. Insurrection just barely qualifies because I saw a midnight showing, technically on Saturday, December 12, 1998, but officially as far as the theater was concerned part of the Friday night showings.

To add: The Search for Spock was the first movie I can recall seeing in a theater without parental supervision. I was 13 at the time, and if memory serves my sisters went with me. I believe my parents dropped us off - obviously someone had to take us since we weren't old enough to drive. :D
