Terry basically said that isn't meant to make sense, it's just an easter egg/reference.it's clear they intended for the punk on the bus to remember Spock and Kirk.

I know what he said but it also undermines the entire premise of said reference at the same time you're making it. It's a writer's choice and it's their choice to make, but at the same time I also can say if I don't agree with it.Terry basically said that isn't meant to make sense, it's just an easter egg/reference.
And this matters...why? The Mirror Universe and Kelvin timeline have nothing to do with this story. You do know that the Picard showrunners' version of time travel doesn't just affect the Prime Timeline, but also the Mirror universe and the Kelvin universe right? Because Nero doesn't exist, he doesn't go back in time to start Kelvin timeline. Because the Defiant didn't exist, it didn't go back in time to cement Terran Empire control of the Mirror Universe.
That's why they shouldn't have jumped to this new version of time travel. No time travel should chain reaction affect an entire multiverse. The alternate futures' visits to the past before divergence should remain intact. Guinan should remember Picard. By not doing so, they've nullified the Mirror and Kelvin timelines, which is way, way, way beyond the scope of this season arc. The writers did not think this through.
This is an alternate timeline so it has no bearing on the events you describe. The Prime timeline continues to exist only we do not observe it. There is no reason to panic. You do know that the Picard showrunners' version of time travel doesn't just affect the Prime Timeline, but also the Mirror universe and the Kelvin universe right? If that were so Guinan would remember Picard from 1893.The Prime timeline continues to exist only we do not observe it.

No, a reasonable explanation has been posted all over the forum. If that were so Guinan would remember Picard from 1893.

Not an alternate timeline according to Picard in the second episode. Their timeline has been undone.
True, it’s not a separate timeline, it’s a new/revised version of the Prime Universe, changed by Q on April 15th, 2024, and rippling throughout the timeline as a result, with time travel from any point past the 4/15/2024 changepoint, to prior to the changepoint, no longer having occurred.
Star Trek has never before asked us to consider time travel beyond the actual issue that needs fixed. Just telling basic fish out-of-water stories. I like that the writers have challenged the audience to view a larger canvas. They might have needed to do more connect-the-dots work for some folks, but I'm pretty satisfied with the time travel angle thus far.
That correct temporal theogy is a strange duck. Cause can at times follow effect as in this example the time change happens it prevents Picard from going back to 19 century SF even though that happen before the time change. As for the punk on the bus just assume someone else chocked him out or perhaps some type of Kirk and Spock went back temporal theory is complexIt really doesn’t. Just breathe.
And I’m not really seeing a new form of time travel, I’m seeing the logical fallout of a time travel event. If there is no UFP in 2369, there can’t be the same time travel event that leads Picard to Guinan in 1893.
You pull a single thread, the entire weave can come undone.
Yeah, I feel of all the charges against the writers, a lack of thought isn't one that could be fairly applied.Star Trek has never before asked us to consider time travel beyond the actual issue that needs fixed. some of this contradiction have explaination that are simple for example Class of '78 We are not sure what era system is being used here perhaps the Academy counts from 2161,2053 or 1969 its a bit strange but meh

Especially since he reaches for his throat, not the side of his neck.
And as you know, because Picard and co. traveled from the altered future, even going back prior to the changepoint, they are in a past impacted by Q’s alteration.
I think it's a matter of who ends up leading humanity. So how are they supposed to fix things? If this is already the Confederation's past, how can anything done here lead to the Federation's future? Isn't it already too late?
Logically speaking, how can two different pasts lead to the same future?
