Exactly. Not everyone in the production is a hard-core Trekkie and has the length of ships memorized. Someone was probably told to make a graphic and put the dimensions on it, and the first dimensions they found online were the TOS ones.

They also misspelled "2244-present" as "2244-preset" on its In Service status. These readouts are still not made to stand up to the level of scrutiny that we give them.
This is why the Berman shows used random strings of numbers. If you make something readable someone will try to read it.
They still do that on the modern shows to a fair extent. I always kind of hated it because it's too nonsensical, there's no way actual people can derive anything of use from it.
well to be fair "bridges must be visible for a sense of scale" technically is a design "rule", and "engineering/shuttle/cargo must fit inside the hull" technically isn'tIt's what the bridge window and sets are scaled to. Engineering requires even bigger though
It's also not important. It's not as if people are walking on screen constantly mentioning how long the ship is. Let it go and just either enjoy the episodes or don't watch if it bothers you that much.
