Spoilers The Mandalorian | Disney+ | Streaming Nov. 12

I think most of the background troopers for Gideon were actually the members of the 501st Legion, right? Wearing their own personal armor. So their own desire to keep their armor spotless in real life helped to communicate some info about Gideon and his troops in our beloved fictional universe too. Very handy.
I'm guessing that was part of the trap. Even though Greef Karga was "in" on it, he also thought it was just a small time Warlord with a few squads of stormtroopers at his disposal; not a ranking member of the Imperial Remnant (or First Order or whatnot) with resources.
What really bugged me about this episode was Mando walking right into the trap - why didn't he attempt to contact the Mandalorian underground? Where they all destroyed after his initial escape?

I believe someone told Mando they'd have to leave/relocate after doing what they did (IE - Mandalorians like to keep a VERY low profile; so once it's discovered/widely known there's a HUGE enclave of them on some planet, they quietly relocate somewhere else.)

Prediction: Mando will take off his armer.. and helmet. step out as a civilian (that would be his disguise) to buy time for IG-11 to wreck shop. No one knows what he looks like, and the only people who WILL know might be Cara, the child, and Apollo Creed

I keep seeing in my head it ending with him taking off his helmet (whether we see his face or not) with the final shot being a wide-eyed Baby Yoda looking at him. Then...

I'm looking forward to the finale, both so I can enjoy the episode, and so I can cancel my Disney+ subscription until the next season starts.

I've been thinking the same thing.

I can't really see him going that far, it would mean he could never wear his armor again.

I could maybe see that happening, since it would just be him and Baby Yoda.

Holy crap! I was just looking around on the Wookiepedia page for the Solo novelization and through a series of posts, I discovered that a couple of Enfyst Nest's Cloud Riders were also Bounty Hunters Guild members, and they both ended up being killed by Mando while he was escaping with Baby Yoda.
I was surprised they'd toss in a connection like that, but then I realized that it was probably just that they needed costumes for bounty hunters, and decided to reuse a couple old ones they had lying around.

I finally watched it a few days ago and I’m really liking it, okay yes Baby Yoda is a big reason.

I hope we get a season 2 with at least 10-12 episodes.

The opening scene with the stormtroopers was really weird. Two major morons right there. It felt more like Saturday Night Live than Star Wars. Other than that it was great. lots of great action and character moments and reveals.

Hey all,

Episode 8 of the Mandalorian is fantastic. Just fyi in case anyone missed it. New episodes get released late Thursday or early Friday after midnight. So you can get the jump on others if you want to.

I can't wait for season two. Any guesses as to when season two might come out? Any news or announcements?

Hopefully it won't be too long. Disney needs the money. LOL.

Holy crap what a season finale!

Action, Drama, Sacrifice, Humor.. it had it all.

Even though it is the thread dedicated for it and spoilers to be expected i will refrain from posting details for now.

One question though.. how come people so quickly forget the Jedi? They were a huge thing not that long ago and were around for thousands of years. How come no one recognizes Baby Yoda is a Force User (and a natural one)? It even struck me as very odd that during the Force Awakens trilogy people knew next to nothing about Jedi and the Force - was this the result of a concerted effort by the Emperor to erase Jedi also from history books?

As an episode, 8 resolved things very well, but 7 was better as far as writing, tone and structure. It's like how the first part of Best of Both Worlds is a little better than the second

I loved the opening bit. The troopers literally unable to shoot anything and then missing IG at point blank cracked me up. Once the episode got going, until IG showed up at the compound, the tension was palpable. The episode until they reached the lava river was pretty good. The dialogue, particularly Carl Weathers’ was pretty stilted. I’m a little torn between the joy and eye rolling I felt when they mentioned the E-Web blaster, a toy I had as a child. I’m not a fan of the resolution, of really lack thereof, here. I was hoping that Baby Yoda would have been a one-off season story but I guess that was asking too much.

Overall this season was just okay for me. I’m curious to see where this will go and will keep watching but I do think this overall could have been better.

RE that last scene: Bo Katan just can't seem to catch a break...or hold onto a planet/saber for more than 5 mins.

It's been 5 years since Endor and Operation Cinder. Anyone who had half a brain and/or half a conscience who wasn't fanatically loyal would have either surrendered or defected by now. That means the ones left fall within the venn diagram of the amoral, the zealous and the hopelessly moronic.
Also, speaking as someone that grew up around soldiers, I 100% buy that interaction. The military never has a shortage of muppets.

This comes up quite a bit and there's a couple of things to consider: -

Firstly: ten thousand Jedi in a galaxy of a million or more of inhabited planets with a population probably somewhere in the quintillions means that while the Jedi got around, very very very few people ever encountered them directly.

Secondly: The Jedi probably weren't big on publicity, even during the war most of what they did could only travel by word of mouth and if people went around believing every tall tail told by shell shocked refugees and one armed drunken Aqualish, well then they may as well start believing ghosts, zombies and witches too... ;)

Thirdly: The Empire took pains to suppress ANY information on the Jedi, even going so far as to re-write the history books. So far as anyone that never saw them with their own eyes is concerned, they either never heard of them, or if they did, they're just a myth. As for those that did: they know better than to speak up since the last person that did, got a midnight visit from the ISB and was neither seen nor heard from again...
