So now a story that comes from actual history should be changed for the sake of diversity?
Thread was not rde-reailed. Obviously diversity was important enough to the high republic nonsense that Lucasfilm's brilliant writers and minds jotted it down TWICE on their board.

Diversity is important for a project like this because it would all come across as very similar if it is just a bunch of white people carrying out the various stories. Diversity isn't just about color and gender, it is about presenting a large universe with unique points-of-view.
see I could agree with that. The problem is that SW stories are set in AGFF.. not our galaxy. Black people, Vietnamese people, are not from the same places they are here. The cultural heritage is not at all similar. So the notion that they are putting "diversity" so high on the priority list here, when people don't watch it to BE represented, and when they CAN'T be represented anyway, is the silly part.
Funny you never complained that, aside form Maz and Snoke (I guess) there were no alien main characters introduced in the sequels
Much like Star Trek, it is to the people in the here-and-now on Earth that you are selling these stories to. White people make up a very small chunk of the overall life on Earth, why would they be the only people in a galaxy far, far away.

That doesn't mean jack, it is being sold to humans in the here-and-now, and is shooting for the same general market as Star Trek.
what you just said is exactly the problem with Star Wars.. instead of being an escapist fantasy.. it's become bogged down by the needs of the audience to be justified in their beliefs
It has always been that way. Hollywood has become aware that there is more than white people to sell their wares to. Do you think Lando Calrissian and Mace Windu were accidents? They were the beginnings of answering the complaints of Star Wars complete lack of diversity on any level.
This simply isn't 1977 anymore. Audiences expect more.

Diversity doesn't make stories worse. Sorry, it doesn't. Including diversity means more points of view, more character development and increasing audience appeal.
Saying, "Well it worked with the original SW" means absolutely jack. It is 40 years later and society has changed. More diversity means a bigger audience which means more market share. That is not a bad thing-that is the nature of the world.
You don't think diversity doesn't make stories horse will just look at with Kathleen Kennedy has done to Star Wars and your answer is pretty simple the new Trilogy is all about diversity and the story is like a garbage fire and she still determined to just throw in more of her politics into these fucking movies
