The High Republic: A more civilized age...

You don't think diversity doesn't make stories horse will just look at with Kathleen Kennedy has done to Star Wars and your answer is pretty simple the new Trilogy is all about diversity and the story is like a garbage fire and she still determined to just throw in more of her politics into these fucking movies

And you wanting just white people in these films doesn’t betray your personal political philosophy?

Nope, not even close.

A. There's a world of difference between comic books and novels and major feature films
B. Diversity is not responsible for the criticism's directed at TFA, TLJ and RoS. Some of the flaws were simply trying too hard to cram all the popular elements of star wars into a series of 3 hours movies, some of it is filmmaking style, and some of it was executive meddling with the script and final release instead of standing back and letting the director do his job.
Note that sequel after sequel after sequel from all franchises tend to suffer from this. No doubt that Star Wars popularity, name recognition and hype led to the flaws being magnified in public opinion.
C. Diversity is about reaching out to underrepresented demographics - i.e. women, people of color/minorities, and LGBTQ+; for inclusion in staff, and inclusion in 'casting' and inclusion in 'character.' This doesn't mean that the entire story will now focus exclusively on the "diverse" character, but rather it will enhance the story by adding a new perspective, a new lense to view things. And in the greatest tradition of art, it will borrow a bit from real life backstories represented by this diversity and weaving them into the narrative.

Well said!

This cannot be overstated. Despite Star Wars high status in current pop culture it is not immune to sequel problems and will not always be the "BEST THING EVAH!!!!" (echoes). The sequels, as much as I love them, are flawed films. And not one of those flaws has to do with diversity.

Star Wars is not about diversity, if it was youi'd be complaining that they only introduced two aliens in the sequels

My one last post on this topic is to point out that Justina Ireland is black and Daniel Jose Older is hispanic. That might have at least a tiny bit to do with why diversity is important to the people making The High Republic.

Do we have any ideas what ships could be like in that era? Are star destroyers era-agnostic? They seemed kinda a new thing in the PT but also appear in the The Old Republic content.

Also, could this be a chance to pull the SWTOR MMO out of Legends and into the new canon by referencing elements from the game?

"Star Destroyer" isn't really a specific design but a classification of warship, just like "Star Cruiser", "Star Frigate" or "Star Dreadnought". Presumably there's been ships of that classification on and off all through galactic history.
Keep in mind though, Star Wars always plays very fast and loose with this kind of thing (see also: the Clone Army tossing terms like "Legion", "Battalion" & "Brigade" around all willy-nilly) so I wouldn't try to figure out what the term actually means beyond "big scary ship".

The stated goal of this project is "new, new, new", so I doubt you'd get any overt references.
Maybe some tangential mentions of the kind that have already made their way into canon. Indeed, the canon symbol for the Old Republic Jedi seen in TCW was lifted from said MMO and indeed the old ship it was on is of a design that is clearly inspired by the Jedi player ships. (Incidentally, that ship and Huyang are a lot older than the High Republic, so they may very well show up.)

But direct plot connections? No. I mean for one thing KotOR I & II, and SWTOR are all set something like 3500-ish years prior to the OT, which would still be 3300 before the High Republic. It'd be like expecting a direct connection to the Shang dynasty in a story set in the 1800's. Not impossible, but not exactly necessary either.
