The Down Under Lounge

I saw this on The Project.

The govt. here have a new tactic where if you criticize a body say the ATO, Veterans Affairs, or Centrelink they now release your public details to the press hope that smears you enough and get you to back down if what you are saying is critical or damaging. What's worse is somehow this is all perfectly legal.

They are also using this tactic to silence veterans who have returned from war zones, and who feel they have been badly treated by the VA.

Isn't this just a little wrong? I feel it is.

I wonder what would happen if it was a relative who was being critical of Centrelink? Could they release details if the one complaining isn't the actual client?

I have no idea but why would something like this be legal anyway? Is it to shut people up, and keep quiet?

I have talked to Jessie's sister. He sister found her dead yesterday morning and it the cause of death was pulmonary embolism. Her sister was told it was quick and she wouldn't have suffered.

That's terribly sad. My kids are that age.

I went for a scan earlier this week. after talking to my doctor today, I feel like a footy player on the news.

"Yeh mate, it's a partial tear of the meniscus, but the ACL isn't damaged, so the docs are thinking of giving me a steroid shot and it should be good for six to twelve months, but to properly mend it'll require I take it easy with some light exercise. Yeh, bit of a blow, but the club';s backing me. Mate."

I am so sorry Miss Chicken :( I've lost a lot of friends over the years all far too young and it is just.. well it's frustrating isn't it, you think why can't this person still be here.

Stupid redhead hasn't yet quit politics.

I haven't caught any news today..... Vegging on the couch with lappy. Who won the WA election?

Labor landslide; they needed 10 seats to form government, likely picked up around 20. Out of a chamber of 59.
