She's popular because people think if someone speaks plainly they are speaking for the regular person and not just the politicians. All that nuance and diplomacy and grey areas .. lets just get rid of that crap!
You should have a look at the article I linked somewhere in TNZ from last week's Saturday Paper, written by Barry Jones, where we says we need a new part that asks, instead of "will it sell?", "is it right?". Worth looking up, and can probably be found online somewhere.
