Spoilers The Controversial Star Wars Opinion Thread

Tarkin was a republic officer as well.

While we haven't seen him much in canon, Gilad Pellaeon was confirmed in the recent Mando visual guide to have served in the military for 40 years which matches his career in Legends, so he served in the Republic as well.

General Pryde from TROS may also have been a very young officer in the Republic Navy. We know he was an Imperial officer during the Galactic Civil War, hinting he may already have been in uniform when the Empire was founded.

"Pryde"... "Sideous", "Maul", "Elan Sleazebaggano", "Nute Gunray", "Salacious Crumb", "Porkins"... These silly-ass Star Wars names are off-the-chain.

A canon reference book claims he was born 5 years before the Clone Wars, so if we go by that he wouldn't have been old enough.

I wouldn’t put Pryde (or even Porkins) in the same category as the others.

EDIT: If anything, I was initially more jarred by names that are straight-up Earth names (Tobias Beckett, Ezra Bridger) rather than almost so (just about everybody else in the OT).

Not controversial in my book. I've always been underwhelmed by Jimmy Smits, the exception being The West Wing and even there I didn't love his performance the first time I watched those seasons (yes, I've watched them multiple times and will again).

I would've much preferred Bratt in the role from the get go.
I've always liked Smits as an actor, but his performance as Bail was always just slightly off to me. Watch some of the deleted scenes from ROTS and he really goes off the rails.

Bratt brought so much more gravitas, IMO. And his rendition of, "May the Force Be With You", is one of the best in the entire franchise.

The most famous, most important character in the entire SW franchise has an Earth name. (As does his uncle.) It's been a thing since 30 minutes into the first movie.

Admiral Motti's first name was later established to be Conan, so that's both a real world and comic book character name.

Phonetics over spelling innit - names these days have more and more variety and takes on the original so I think it qualifies

For the last time, YouTubers, OBI-WAN NEVER DID OWN ANY OF "HIS" ASTROMECH DROIDS.

R4-P17 and R4-G9 were the collective property of the Jedi Order and simply assigned to Obi-Wan for his Starfighter and missions. R2 was owned first by the Royal House of Naboo, passed on to Padmé after she ceased being Queen, became Anakin's droid and then wound up with Bail Organa and Captain Antilles for 19 years.
