The Best character in Picard

Yeah I know, I’m easy to please because everyone knows what (or rather, who) is my thing. What can I say, I’m a simple gay. Err, guy. I mean guy. :shifty:;)

I do notice that Seven of Nine is attractive tho, and I do think putting her into a catsuit was a disgrace because Seven as a character deserved more than being reduced to eye candy - as did T’Pol on ENT, she’s one of my faves on that show - and I’m glad she’s now finally getting more on PIC… and NO more catsuit.

Escpecially in the novels Seven got more character depth, not only focus on her outward appearance. Christie Golden started, continued by Kirsten Beyer.

It's good to see Seven back onscreen. I'm glad that Burnham isn't put into a catsuit as she seems to be another interesting character (just started with Discovery season 1 now that it is finally on free tv....).

As to Rios: I'm not a fan of beards, but Rios looks adventerous and good with it. Santiago Cabrera looks completely different clean shaven.....

I'm hoping for an Elnor novel, but that's a different thing.

I don’t think she was “reduced” to eye candy. Sure, she was eye candy, but that didn’t stop her from also being a fascinating and complex character.

Sorry, my bad, I should have been more specific. (I typed that at like six in the morning. Apologies.) I meant that the INTENTION behind the catsuit was to reduce her to eye candy. Of course she got great character moments as well, but to me the catsuit always serves as an uncomfortable reminder that the intention behind bringing in Seven of Nine was to appeal to the “(straight) male gaze” and to boost ratings that way.

Berke Breathed said that sometimes, a special character just "shows up" unexpectedly, like Opus in Bloom County (and his later strips), who began his existence as basically a sight gag. A rather wimpy male character was supposedly attempting to enhance his machismo by getting a German Shepherd dog, wound up getting a penguin instead. But as he said, once they arrive, they never leave. Maybe Seven began as a "Borg babe" in a boob outfit, but that's not how she ended up.

Yeah, definitely. Although I'd really would have preferred it if they had at least replaced the catsuit at some point, it was bad enough that they tried to introduce a "Borg babe". And I agree that sometimes characters who originally weren't meant to shine ended up doing so. Most notably Larry Hagman's JR Ewing, who was originally supposed to be nothing more than a side character who turned out to be an audience favorite early on and then ended up beingTHE main guy who carried an entire soap opera for 14 seasons.

But I'm still glad they got rid of the catsuit now and are giving Seven even more time to shine. She deserves it, and I can see why quite a few fans are asking for a Seven spin-off show. :)

Love her and love her character. I wish she would join Strange New Worlds cast. :luvlove:

If this was a way to start an appreciation thread for the actress Sol Rodríguez and character Teresa Ramirez, you didn't even bother to name her.
The way you set it up, somewhat guarantees most will use the thread to discuss anyone except her, if anything to dispute your claim.
I like her too, actress and character. And Rios is being set up to be in a difficult spot, between leaving her, and messing up the time-line by wanting to stay with her.

As far as her continuing in Strange New Worlds? Seems completely unlikely unless the actress is an all new character, or descendant? Yet there is no great reason to tie the shows.
Most likely is if Rios manages to convince her to come with, and there is some spinoff Stargazer series (would love to see it). Or continuing adventures of La Sirena. Both unlikely.
If anything, Rios is acknowledging how much good she is doing in her own messed up time, and how much they need her. So most likely he is being set up to come to terms with the fact that he must leave her behind. (or risk staying with her) That's not a continuing show.

Curious where she lands after Trek, likely a new unrelated show, I would love to see more of her.

As far as best new character in the Picard series, for me it's Captain Rios and his one man Existential Crisis Emergency Hologram Crew.
I'd watch a show (mini-series) about "them" hauling cargo on La Sirena, looking for purpose and adventure adrift in the cosmos.

Unfortunately they've already squashed that concept.

^ I named her character in the 3rd post but yeah, should have started off with it. I figured people would recognize her.

As far as a Strange New Worlds, I was referring to the actress getting a role in the show, not the character.

After Picard ends, maybe they could continue with a Stargazer series with her aboard. They certainly are cranking out Trek series left and right, so why not another?

Right there with you. It was such a low blow to actresses perfectly capable of entrancing the audience with terrific performances of complex and extraordinary characters.

“Here. Wear this dumb thing. No one will care otherwise.”

I'm not going to go with Picard or Seven because that feels like cheating. Same with the Borg Queen since she's a guest-character this season.

So, besides them, I'm going with Dahj. She made her one appearance really count. But, if we're going with regular characters, hmmm.... I'm going to have to say Rios. He's grown on me a lot.

But I like all of them.

(insert large and somewhat random image of Rufus Sewell for no adequately explored reason)

Please be kind enough to go through this forum and list the threads that are justified and which ones are not so I know which ones to skip. Thank you!!
Maybe ones that start off with some kind of discussion and not just pasting up the picture of someone you find in

Sure thing, but I only have time for the first page right now.

We know the answer to this question, but it's important historical reading and will be on the test.

Fun idea that won't probably happen, or is it possible...
Narrator: It didn't.

Is Picard series 2 a sequel to Quantum Leap and Enterprise?
Narrator: It isn't.
you will receive your Brophyite "Like" for this. Blessed is any thread that mentiones Brian Brophy. Bless his coming and going. Bless his acting and teaching. May he cleanse the streaming services for his people. May he appear in season 3 as was fortold.

Rufus Sewell? Did I miss something. Last time I saw Rufus Sewell was in Victoria as Lord Melbourne.....

Rufus Sewell as ....

Romulan Spy? DTI Agent? Corrupt Starfleet Admiral? Changeling?

As to the new season: some beans have already been spilled.

Christopher Eccleston is unlikely to appear, but who knows?

I'm not sure I can limit to one character....

When the show focuses on the adventures of one, and pushes their arc forward, I find I enjoy it... however I find the transitions don't flow well. I get frustrated HOW we shift around, we give Seven and Rafi alot to do, then they go dark for a few episodes... Same with Rios... Same with Jurati... anyone else feel this way?
