Spoilers The Acolyte

I watched the first either half or third of the first season of Resistance, and I thought it was pretty good. Definitely not quite up to the level of Rebels, Clone Wars, or Bad Batch, but still enjoyable.

As far as FO starship designs are concerned, I really liked the FO TIE-Bomber the show showcased - so much so, I acquired a tabletop mini of it!
Oh yeah, better than a slight modification of the Imperial tie bomber

That thing always bothered me, though it's as much a problem I have with how most ST era designs (especially the fighters) are so slavishly derivative as anything else.

For the FO bomber specifically though; I would have at least flipped the wings around the x-axis so instead of aggressively pointing forwards like an interceptor, they taper back. Give it more of a bat/diving bird of prey feel, with an manta-like silhouette. Oh and ditch the long cannons up front and instead mount a rear-facing movable turret on the tail end of the main hull. Bombers should actually look like bombers, not beefy interceptors.

Those modifications would make it look more bomber-like indeed.

What I like it about, specific arrangements aside, is it’s radial panel structure echoing something of the mythical TIE Command Shuttle, as seen in ESB - with the panels curving / angled outwards:

Granted, the FO TIE-Bomber does look like it could pass for a heavily souped-up TIE-Fighter - but overall, it still feels more dynamic than many of the other more derivative designs that the ST gave us, IMO.

Well that's a pretty low bar considering most of those others are either fairly uninspired efforts like the TIE Dorito Dagger, or of the "exactly like the old ones but black and with random extra bits glued on" persuasion.

Compare any of those to the likes of the PT's Droid fighters, Nimbus, ARC-170, etc. All clearly of a technological and aesthetic lineage that can be traced to the OT ships, and yet each entirely their own thing.

Yeah, at least the Silencer and the Echelon looked more like an evolution than mere iteration, but only just. Even then; one only shows up once and got ditched for the next movie, while one was unused concept art that got adopted by a theme park ride. Kinda telling when the better material has to be salvaged from the discard pile.

As for the Baron . . . it was OK. Certainly better than the interceptor knock-off from TRoS, but still a little too samey. Indeed I think I would have rather seen it as yet another advanced prototype from the last days of the Empire than something 30 years down the line.

And just to be clear; I don't have a problem so much with the execution of the ST designs in and of themselves, but that those were the ones used specifically in what was supposed to be a new era of storytelling. I would rather have had something more unique. But again; that's a problem with the ST as a whole, not just the ship designs.

ST needed different designs but had better characters. PT needed better characters but really like their designs.

So...eh?

the Resurgence class was pretty good as well, it felt like an evolution of the Star Destroyer, though with some Venator thrown in with those side hangars.

the supremacy however, was just an Executor Class stretched real wide.

while one was unused concept art that got adopted by a theme park ride.

Actually no, it was designed by Colin's team for both projects, it wasn't something the Park found and recycled.
Can you share how you were involved in Galaxy’s Edge and the behind-the-scenes story on creating the ship?

TREVORROW: It was just a natural part of the process. The Imagineering team asked us to develop a new ship for the park while we were designing the film. I took it pretty seriously—it’s not every day you get to be a part of something like that. They let me see what they were working on, so I got to see what Galaxy’s Edge was going to be. I think what they’ve created is incredible. It’s such an immersive experience.
