Spoilers The Acolyte

I'm enjoying this - along with Ahsoka and the early seasons of Mando, this works for me. It's authentically Star Wars-y.

Not something I'd say about the other shows.
I think Kenobi is the only one I would say isn't Star Wars-y, ironically.

Fett was just...low wattage SW and Mando went downhill.

I hate Andor to the extent that it's the only live action SW project that I have not completed. And, if I can keep my completeness impulse under control, probably won't.

I enjoyed BoBF although it suffered due to COVID restrictions and stuff.
I freaking love Andor, it's a slow burn policial drama/thriller but it's so well done.

different strokes etc.

Absolutely.

On paper, Andor should be right up my street. It just...isn't.

Mando just become a vehicle for Filoni to produce spin offs. The last season should have been called Book of Bo Katan.

Well she is Mandalorian...
I am curious if the story will stay relatively small scale/low stakes as is, or become big enough to at least warrant the involvement of the High Council, so a cameo by a slightly younger Yoda would be possible.
Or has Yoda not been on the council at a young age of 750-ish?
There absolutely should be involvement by the Council at some point.

I'm the opposite, the stuff involving them were some of my favorite parts of The Mandalorian.
It seems pretty clear that at least three, if not all four, of the Jedi who were on Brendok either outright lied about or otherwise obfuscated the details about what happened on the planet to Osha and her family, and that their actions are linked to why Mae is killing them.
Oh definitely, there is no doubt in my mind that something hinky went down on Brendok and that's how they ended up in this situation. Something happened that they clearly didn't want getting out, or they wouldn't have lied about Mae dying. At first I thought maybe the Jedi thought she was dead, but their reactions seemed to be more a "oh, so she finally showed up", than a "holy shit, she's alive", so they've definitely known she was alive this whole time.
I just had a thought, what if the scene with the Jedi confronting the red lightsaber wielding enemy in the trailer is actually a vision or flashback to Brendock and they lied to cover up the Sith/Dark Jedi's involvement.
I just rewatched the trailer and it looks like there's some deceptive editing going on. But it does look like we're getting some significant flashbacks later. We see a young Mae or Osha with Jodi Turner-Smith's Mother Aniseya and Sol, and then at least one shot of Indara in a similar looking location, probably Brendok. Later there's also a kid, possibly young Mae or Osha again running through a forest on fire, and it looks like the confrontation with the Mae's master is at the same place but they do show Yord and Jaeki so it might actually be on Brendok in the present day. But with the way they like to play around with the trailers, those could very well be taken from a flashback and a present day scene.

Lesley Headland has already said we won't be seeing Yoda, or any other major characters in The Acolyte.
There probably already is, because there's a strong implication that Vernestra is a member of the Council at this point in time.
Yeah, she definitely seems to be pretty high up in the Order at this point.

"The Mandalorian" should have ended when Luke took Grogu. That was it, the story and the character arcs were over. I was very worried about what the show was going to look like after that. But, man, I didn't realize just how bad bad could be.

@JD My speculation about what happened on Brendok is that the four Jedi who were present there had some kind of involvement in the starting of the fire that Osha (and likely Mae also) believed killed her (their) family members and that that involvement was covered up.

That would explain why Mae is pissed off at all four of them and also why Torbin willingly poisoned himself in front of her.

I was not at all interested in this show, but I gave it a shot anyway, which is not something I did for ADNDOR, AHSOKA, and THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT.

I… liked it. It’s fairly solid, with two leads that I’m actually interested in. I think it’s much better paced than THE MANDALORIAN. One thing that really helps this show is that because it’s so chronologically far removed from the other shows, there’s no legacy characters so there’s none of the baggage that the other shows had. I’m sure it’ll somehow tie in, but it doesn’t feel beholden if that makes sense.

Hard to see how “started a fire and accidentally killed some people” gets to “better to isolate myself for ten years and drink poison than to confess my crime.” There has to be more to it than that.

If the Jedi started the fire, I think it was to intentionally kill Mother Aniseya and her clan (including Mae and Osha since they're her daughters, biological or adopted), which would be why they lied about Mae dying and omitted any official mention of Osha being a twin.

There's definitely something hinky going on. The four of them didn't report that Mae existed at all to the other Jedi, but Sol didn't feel the need to conceal her existence from Jecki and Yord, and he initially says he's certain Mae's dead, but he also decides she might not be fairly quickly and before getting any new information. It's a strange constellation of clues, and I hope what we learn or see all fits with the contradictory facts we know so far, rather than just brushing some aside. It's Sol bringing her up to Jecki and Yord that gets me. If Mae was a secret, why discuss her at all? If he'd seen that she was dead, how did Sol come to doubt that? If he didn't see her dead and made an assumption or was told second-hand, why did he seem so sure when he first talked about her? It certainly suggests, at the very least, that all four Jedi weren't on the same page or didn't agree to keep the same secret.

(When Sol said that he saw Mae die, I immediately thought of the old "Jedi Outcast" video game; "Think, what did you really see? What did you really hear?")

It’s weird. Sol says (credibly) that they thought they were doing the right thing. No matter how badly they messed up, if their motives were good, why would Torbin choose ten years of solitary confinement and a vial of poison over confession? Maybe explaining their true motives would let out a secret that’s dangerous to the galaxy?
