Strange New Worlds Season 2 Trailer

[Don Rickles voice as I pretend to write down the score] "NCC leads 1-0. I need to punt on the fourth down." [/Rickles]

I do like STSNW a lot. It's brought back the episodic format and has done that extremely well. What I am feeling is that as it gets closer to TOS they need to make one of two choices. Have it open to a replacement remake of TOS and weave it into current trek lore or make it a alternate reality. With the gorn, Singh and Kirk it's feeling less and less like it can fit into the TOS canon.

There is no contradiction between SNW's and TOS's depictions of the Gorn, Khan, or Kirk.

The Gorn in SNW are hatchlings and as real life Mother Nature can show us the hyperenergetic infants of a species don't always visually line up with the slower, different-looking adults or vice versa. None of those Gorn were grown adults.

And that's assuming that there aren't multiple species or Gorn or different Gorn factions that are genetically altered from one-another. There are all sorts of possibilities to explain the differences between Gorn we've encountered so far.

I'd be more inclined to subscribe to the multiple trill option if we ever saw another Odan like Trill and not leopard spot trills

I will say I am very interested to see how Anson Mount is going to play Pike in this season given he accepted his eventual fate for the good of the galaxy in the S1 finale. My guess is maybe a little more resolute, a little more "make the years count" maybe?
"Kirk, let me show you how to me a ladies man."

"Sir, I am. Look at me."

"I am, son. Its a good start. But we can do better."

Until we see the gorn in a uniform walking upright it's a contradiction. Until we find out if Kirk learns who La'an is it could be a contradiction. Kirk is could become a contradiction if he meets Pike now. There are other things but no sense in listing them

No, it's not. Nothing about either version precludes the other.

Until we find out if Kirk learns who La'an is it could be a contradiction.

No, it's not. Hell, if Kirk first learned about Khan through La'an it would explain why he has a "sneaking admiration" for him.

Kirk is could become a contradiction if he meets Pike now.

Could theoretically hypothetically possibly potentially maybe.

Nope. Unless seeing only white people and then seeing another minority is a contradiction foe humans.

This is an assumption that all Gorn look the same.
Until we find out if Kirk learns who La'an is it could be a contradiction
Nope.
Kirk is could become a contradiction if he meets Pike now.
Presumptuous.

The canon set down by TOS went out the window a long time ago, to be honest. WW3 and the Eugenics Wars have been progressively moved up and now are set for more of the 2040's or even 2050's going by the fact that they had been over for about 10 years by 2063.

Additionally the death toll listed for WW3 was changed from 60 million to 600 million.

Give your brain a rest until the show airs again? Maybe? These are not egregious. And by your own logic they're not really contradictions yet, are they? Aren't you one of the people who thought the Spock/T'Pring grown up relationship couldn't be true because he looked at a picture of her as a child? though at no point in the episode Amok Time does he say they haven't seen each other since she was that child? They've managed so far to keep Uhura from meeting T'Pring (as she clearly doesn't know who she is in Amok Time). I think they're keeping all the stuff you worry about in mind.

With your logic hat on: Those baby Gorn were not capable of operating a ship or of anything but the most rudimentary predator behavior. They are clearly not the mature, thinking, plotting versions of the Gorn who fly ships around for conquest and feasting. That's why they have these nursery planets right? Because their children are monsters.

Keep in mind that really at no point in Space Seed did Kirk seem *entirely* unfamiliar with Khan and the "Supermen". I feel like he somehow knew about Khan Noonien Singh.

I dunno, I am not sure its as much of a canon trap as first appears.

Source: Watching Space Seed right now.
