It's a good song that does nothing with the visuals. Here's the intro with a MUCH better theme....enjoy!

Crime of the century.(and I don't mind the ENT theme - but it doesn't work here - especially since the person who edited it introduced stuttering video to alter the timing throughout to make the 1701 warp out match the warp out sound effect in the ENT theme sequence. Very sloppy way to do it and it stands out badly.)
YMMV of course.
I thought that this was Jeff Russo's weakest theme yet.
Nope.Worst visuals I have seen on a modern Sci-fi TV show. Might as well have come from a 5 year old video game's cutscenes.
Well, don't hold back, cause ya know, everybody was waiting with bated breath for your particularly uninspired evaluation.Worst visuals I have seen on a modern Sci-fi TV show. Might as well have come from a 5 year old video game's cutscenes.
I actually don't mind the Picard theme. I prefer it to the Discovery theme. How can you tell?
Seriously, Russo is a grind unless he's quoting someone else's work, The good parts here are from Courage and probably Williams. The only part of the Picard theme that, well, sings is the melody borrowed from Chattaway.

Video games both 5 years ago and now look awesome.Worst visuals I have seen on a modern Sci-fi TV show. Might as well have come from a 5 year old video game's cutscenes.
Also true.

They do look awesome, but video games are rendered in real time, while film CGI is pre-rendered on super powerful computers. There is still an expectation for the pre-rendered stuff to look better.Video games both 5 years ago and now look awesome. High praise.
I sent the intro to a friend. His first response: was this filmed in the 90s?
It's bad Jim, It's reallllll bad.
For what it's worth, whenever I've said I want it to match TOS's visuals I meant the designs not the quality. I've seen some absolutely beautiful renders of the classic Enterprise done in a modern style and this scruffy old battleship look they've applied to the SNW ship's hull isn't really working for me.It's funny to me to hear complaints about the graphics when others are demanding it look like TOS. Like, does TOS look contemporary?

It's working better for me as I look at TMP styles. For what it's worth, whenever I've said I want it to match TOS's visuals I meant the designs not the quality. And a transfusion of taste from an adult.Perhaps your friend needs glasses maybe?
Scruffy old battleship? [squints eyes really hard, then back up to the other side of the room, tripping over an ottoman in the process]... this scruffy old battleship look they've applied to the SNW ship's hull isn't really working for me.
