It's not a period of the franchise that interests me in any way, TBH. I prefer TOS.I still say the thing to do is skip the Five Year Mission and pick up after The Motion Picture.

The vaguely worded comments in that article, along with comments made in other interviews in the past make me think if/when we do see Sybok, it'll be in an alternate timeline/reality. Indeed, given the repeated use of the word "future" in the comments made in this article make me think we're getting a sort of AGT style alternate future, perhaps an alternate version of the events of TFF which feature older versions of the SNW cast instead?
In other words, boot half the best characters on the show for no reason other than to get Kirk in the Captain's chair (which he can already do on the show anyway).
Actually, Joseph stays. He's not the CMO in the original series, but Joseph M'Benga appeared in two episodes of the original series still assigned to the Enterprise.
They made 79 whole episodes of that already, so no imagining needed.

that is true
butt butt what if there was a reboot of the original series which would be the direct sequel from star trek strange new worlds
well actually some of the crew members froms star trek strange new worlds is not in star trek original series which is actually the after the strange new worlds
in other words after strange new worlds in time frame wise aka timeline wise is star trek the original series
We got hundreds of episodes of Trek series that weren't as good. Bring on the TOS revival from the SNW folks. They made 79 whole episodes of that already, so no imagining needed.

It doesn't seem like there is any possibility of SNW continuing, the producers are just hoping to reuse some of the sets and actors. Whatever happens, one series is over and a different series may be made.removing great characters from the show for no other reason than 'They weren't on the Enterprise in TOS' would be one of the dumbest decisions in the history of the franchise.
I wouldn't be disappointed if they moved into the 5YM after SNW. Maybe not retell the same stories, but other stories in the spaces in between what came before. Trek (especially early, non-serialized, Trek) had issues with a lack of consequences from previous actions. I mean, really, TWOK was the first time, to my recollection, where the consequences of actions taken in an episode really came to the forefront as the core plot of a story. TNG started to explore it a little more but it was pretty non-existent in TOS. Might be a reasonable place to start anyway, if they were going to go that route.
Might be moving into "Future of Trek"-thread-type stuff now...Yes, that was Bryan Fuller's original pitch to CBS.I remember, years ago, that there was talk of building an "anthology" series. Maybe it was what DSC eventually became
