Christopher Pike, the "Galloping Gourmet" of Starfleet.
Heh ... I use to rush home at lunchtime from school (we lived a couple of blocks from my elementary school) to be able to watch Graham Kerr's show every day back then.
I'd usually have to run like the devil back, because The Galloping Gourmet was a half hour show and I'd have about 5 minutes to get back for afternoon attendance.

Oh those fun days of being a latchkey kid. :adore:

At least most us I know agree that if we don't see Dr Piper take his position as CMO then it will be a slap in the face of all fandom! We have been waiting years for more Piper. Time for them to give it to us!:vulcan:

I like M'Benga as well. But he still has to head to Vulcan eventually and shave his beard then come back to work under Bones. Which in itself makes for a interesting story IMO. Why did he leave and why did he come back . Maybe they will explore that in the shows final season.

I have every confidence that the writers of this show will figure it out, should they choose to explore that thread. They've done pretty damn good so far, IMO. If they do go that route, I would suspect that his TDY to Vulcan will involve finding a cure for his daughter in some way. What happens with that will be anyone's guess. Perhaps someone at the Vulcan Medical Institute discovered some possible new kind of treatment that will directly help M'Benga find a cure, prompting him to contribute his own research that he's been conducting for the past several years. Could be a cool side-story away from Enterprise for a season or two.

Gene Roddenberry did that in TOS S1 Where No Man Has Gone Before.

He was there about a short time, and was replaced by Dr Leonard 'Bones' McCoy.

There's nothing to indicate he served under Captain Christopher Pike when Pike was in command of the Enterprise.

M'Benga to Boyce, not Piper, is the CMO transition that needs to happen at some point.

His daughter does not need a cure, atm. Perhaps there will be ramifications for what he did in "Under the Cloak of War." It took until the next season for Una's heritage to bite her. Perhaps it will be something else.

Boyce is before M'Benga. His only appearance is in "The Cage", which takes place before SNW.
