Considering that Spock and Chapel's fling is entirely based on "Well no one said they didn't have a past relationship in TOS", we should have Scotty and Uhura get together in SNW under the same reasoning, as a prelude to their relationship in ST5, a movie which already got a shout out in this show with the Sybok cameo.
Could be complicated because according to the Kelvin movies Spock had a relation with Uhura, too.

I have less difficulty buying this than Spock and Chapel. As much as I love both of them and their whole story in SNW.
Maybe I'm reading too much into the subtext of the scene, but when Spock and Uhura met on Strange New Worlds, I was registering real interest on Uhura's part in Spock until she caught onto the sparks between him and Christine.

This. I really hate to tread too far in “those” waters, but it just seems to me that the only reason Majel kept getting put on the show, either as Number One, or Chapel, or Luwaxana (sp?) Troi, or the computer’s voice was that she was, quite simply, Gene’s mistress, and got preferential treatment.
If they ever want to give Pike a brother, I nominate Josh Brolin
He would make a good father as well if they ever showed us Pike's dad in a flashback scene or episode.

I definitely prefer him as Pike.

There actually is some truth to that. Indeed, contrary to popular belief, NBC execs actually had no problem with a woman being the Enterprise's second in command, they just wanted Number One to be played by someone other than Roddenberry's mistress. An angered Roddenberry decided to remove the character and spread the story about Studio Suits being afraid of women with authority.
I'm not trying to diminish Barrett's talent. She did a great job as Number One, while the problems with Chapel on TOS stem more from writing than acting. I really can't imagine anyone else as Lwaxana Troi and she did have a great voice to be the ship's computer. But at the same time, we shouldn't ignore the elephant in the room either.

Not sure if you're including the TNG era. But that was when bigger name actors started ASKING to be on the show.
The earlier format of the show (as many other shows would do) kind of treated the guest stars as co-stars. It was at least as much THEIR episode.

If you're going to nitpick what was obviously a facetious post on my part, strictly speaking Pike wouldn't know how T'Pau sounded during Enterprise as he wasn't born yet so he would just assume she always sounded Hungarian.
