The tail looks mechanical on a couple of those.

It would be an interesting take for adult gorn to lose their tails and replace them with mechanical ones.

I don't think it would ever get so far to cause borg comparisons. I don't think anyone is saying that they should start replacing their entire bodies with machines. Just that perhaps older Gorn lose their tails at a certain level of maturity (or other reasons), and soldiers' armor sometimes include artificial ones as weapons. like a knight carrying a sword, except this sword is attached to their ass. They get used to having a tail in youth and so they replicate it artificially as a weapon.

It always hard to go from a serious tv show to Lower Decks.

"Those Old Scientists" actually made me interested in Lower Decks, so I started watching it and will start season 3 tonight. I'm enjoying it so far.

Well, there is still forty new episodes in the can across the Trek franchise. Ten episodes of Lower Decks, premiering in a few weeks. Ten episodes of Disco coming sometime in 2024. And twenty episodes of Prodigy which we're probably 95% guaranteed to get. That's close to a year's worth of new content right there. Hopefully by the time that's aired, the strikes will be resolved and SNW will at least be filming.
