I think you're reading something into it that isn't there. It could be Paramount is about to announce the premiere date for the streaming of Strange New Worlds season 2.

Hell, "something new" could mean the ship looks different in some way, maybe closer to TOS. Or we're getting Klingons again (very likely) and they look more like they did in the TNG Era or even TOS. "Something new" can mean anything when set photos leak and shows take a year off between new seasons.

Yep. Or maybe he's doing a movie or another TV show around the Strange New Worlds shooting schedule, same way Pedro Pascal is starring in both The Mandalorian and The Last of Us at the same time. Or maybe he's doing a play during hiatus. Or maybe he's buying a new car.

I think you're reading something into it that isn't there. It could be Paramount is about to announce the premiere date for the streaming of Strange New Worlds season 2.

It could also be about the cancellation of Discovery, SNWs being the new Flagship series for Star Trek now, at least until we see if Star Trek Titan getting picked up

That reminds me that one of my big issues with the Short Trek Q&A is they didn't bother to dye Anson Mount's hair.

I mean, it was canonically pre-Cage, he shouldn't have been a silver fox yet.

I like the blending of a SNW-style shirt with a ribbed collar like we saw in the two TOS pilot episodes. Look at that hair. No wonder he survived and eventually got promoted to Captain. Even a redshirt is invincible with that hair.
