Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

Be kind. Hold fast to integrity. Share your gifts. Cherish other lives as you would your own. Stay curious. Be uplifting and remind others how to soar.

It's not so much a trek across the stars as music of the spheres. Of harmony and vibrational alignment...an orchestration of souls and starstuff knowing only that it must shine until all cracks of darkness are filled with light.

Well at least they have always been subtle about it.
Oh please re-watch TOS, there was nothing subtle about it.

Ok. I’ll start tomorrow, it’s been a while.

I might do some TOS episode reviews in the TOS forum now that Strange New World’s season one is nearly over as I won’t have anything else to watch for a while, it will give me something to talk about here at TrekBBS in the interim until the new series of Disco and Pic start. :)

Cloud William!!! My man!!! "Freedum?"

God I just love "The Omega Glory". It stretches credulity way past the breaking point like an overinflated tire at highway speeds with its exact parallel United States Constitution, and hits the nail on said highway with Kirk's speech restoring meaning to the words which have become slurred and unintelligible by people ignorant of its origins. The story comes to a screeching halt with a view of a US flag standing proud and upright like Kirk himself after his battle with Captain Tracey. Good triumphed over evil. Direct. Succinct. Beautiful.

"Lokai is white on the right side." Dude! Look in a mirror. Now you are, too!!! Oops! Time to hate yourself! Now this allegory was about as subtle as a startled skunk's greeting. Just look at that Prime Meridian in the middle of their heads! Skilled makeup application but subtle it's not!

Or even the Enterprise-C some 50 years later.
Or even the Reliant and Excelsior class ships which served well in to the 24th century, such as during the Dominion war. Perhaps the LCARS interfaces were modernized but if it isn’t broken why change it to meet modern aesthetics?

Well I am just going to watch Star Trek and enjoy it for what it is. If people want to make it political in their own head canon then they are welcome to do so.
Please, please tell me your comments were in jest. Because Star Trek has always, and I mean always been the way of the writers of the show to express their views about events and choices in the world we live in. Literally from day one. This isn't about head canon, and what someone interprets from the stories, this is literally how the writers and producers have talked about crafting the stories they tell.

Some have been exceptionally on the nose (like F**ing sledgehammers to the skull), some have been more subtile, but its literally always been there.

Now you can absolutely say that Trek isn't trying to say the show mirrors the Democratic Party. But it absolutely has (using American style definitions of terms) been a liberal and progressive leaning show, trying to reflect the issues of the day dressed up in shinny science fiction universe so that people who lean conservative don't realize what lessons the show is trying to teach them. Even when under management telling them not push hard, the messages are still absolutely there.
