It is. because what we will be comparing is the acting range of an actor and quinto has more range. I am sorry but even in the first episode with tpring peck spock lacked tenderness in those scenes with his soon to be wife. His delivery felt scripted. A far cry from quinto spock who always showed tenderness with the kelvin uhura and still could come off vilcan.
Noting wrong in calling for better actingSo what?

I love this idea that angry Spock was somehow an invention of newer TrekYet.![]()
Top. Men.Who is this "we" you keep speaking of?
Sorry I'm looking at those reactions, and in your posts I think you need to change 'we' to 'me' (IE Yourself) in your posts. You seem to think that your posts speak for everyone and not just yourself. You're definitely entitled to your own opinion, but I don't think you can speak for others opinions effectively.Fans reactions to the clip
All these comparisons and talk of who is better or not is a pointless waste of time. They're different characters with different backgrounds in different universes played by different actors in different media (TV vs. Film) with different writers and directors determining their dialogue and behavior onscreen.hmmmmm....I dont know... but maybe this is because this is a clip but I am not too big of a fan of the acting here from Celia and Ethan. Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana played the roles of Spock and Uhura better.
the acting for me seems not to be hitting the right notes, even Anson Mount that I liked in disco, I think Pike's Bruce Greenwood form the Kelvin films had a stronger and authoritative presence than Mount.
Where are you getting "aggressive and dominating" from in a secondhand description of an interaction we didn't see and was playfully described by Uhura as "flirting" and apparently so insignificant that it wasn't even on Spock's radar as flirting or an aggressive / dominating encounter or much of anything for that matter? I get that he would be clueless about recognizing non-Vulcan "query/response" style flirting, but I'm pretty sure he'd recognize someone being aggressive toward him. Also this writers may be getting things off the rail with some legacy characters. Chapel had a long love crush on Spock that was I will say sweet and innocent. Now in this new series of the same character by episode 2, she is flirting with him that had that Uhura thinks she is his girlfriend, it is too much of a drastic change and I fear it may make Chapel come off as too aggressive or dominating, which is just so not her character.
People seem to be praising SNW but I will wait for the hype to die down a bit before we can a real critic of the series.

Which fans?
Quinto nailed Spock.
Peck still has a lot to learn.
All in my opinion.
I'll take your word for it. Prettiness is not a part of my evaluation.totally agree, in the brief time we’ve had both I thought Quinto looks and sounds more like Nimoy. He has that same kind of sort of alien look. Peck is too pretty.

I don't want someone to do a Nimoy impression. We already had the best Nimoy take on Spock, by Nimoy himself. The actors should try and put their own spin on the character. Obviously that doesn't mean acting completely out of character; they should follow the basic parameters established for Spock's (or other's) behavior, but they shouldn't feel locked-in to doing everything exactly the way Nimoy did. I want to see their interpretation of the character. Everyone acting the same is boring.totally agree, in the brief time we’ve had both I thought Quinto looks and sounds more like Nimoy. It's not an impression. It was just the character's bearing.I don't want someone to do a Nimoy impression. We already had the best Nimoy take on Spock, by Nimoy himself. When the actor shows up playing Kirk next season, do we really want him doing a bunch of dramatic pauses for effect or do we want him to do his own thing? Save the impressions for the comedians, let the actors inhabit the role and make it their own and give us a new and interesting take on the character(s).
Quinto looks a lot more like Nimoy but Peck does a better job playing Spock. I think he is nailing it. And now he even looks more like Spock (compared to when he was on Discovery). I think the makeup people are getting better at it.

There were many laughing moments with quinto spock because some of his reactions to stuff were legit funny like when he told Pike that the complexity of humans pranks escapes him. After Pike promoted kirk to first officer in the 2009 film.
