Pike--Saw his bad future in a time crystal, openly talking about it with Spock, can't quit Starfleet because it just means cadets and someone else will be fried instead of him, possibly making plans even this early to shuttle off to be with Vina after his accident (meaning Menagerie was planned all along I guess).

Also Pike--getting into hot bedroom scenes with ladies and maybe long term relationships even knowing all this. TOS Kirk may end up looking extremely restrained with all the ladies of the week in TOS by comparison before SNW Season 1 is over.

Visually this whole thing looks stunning. Probably the best live-action thing they've put out since Discovery first aired from a purely aesthetic point of view.

The dialogue in these trailers though gives me a little pause. Then again, trailer dialogue is usually pretty bad for any movie or show, so I won't be too worried until the first episode rolls around.

Yeah, as I've stated on previous occasions the first teaser trailer for Star Trek Beyond was pure garbage. Absolute fluff. But the movie it teased turned out to be a lot of fun and smarter than first hinted.

Yep. They look slightly larger and appear to have silver lids now.

It's pretty cute that they chose to open with a clip of Pike materializing in the middle of a very official-looking meeting full of very important-looking people apparently shouting pointlessly at one another.

Yep. They look slightly larger and appear to have silver lids now.

They added at least 2 more phaser hardpoints to the bottom of the saucer

Man it's going to be a long month. I haven't been this excited for a new Star Trek series in a long time. I can't wait.

I think the full trailer looks fantastic, and Mount's Pike is a breath of fresh air. I've enjoyed Discovery with all it's flaws, but GrimDarkTrek is getting a little stale. SNW promises a brighter, lighter, more colorful Trek. I'm hoping as well that this series gives it's cast greater ensemble opportunities, as Discovery's secondary crew characters seem to have been underutilized overall.

I wouldn't assume yet that this show is non grimdark. We know that Pike's entire arc and Spock romancing I assume T'Pring all ends in grimdark, and in the former Pike knows it and in the latter I doubt they'll hold back on the brutal drama of T'Pring dumping Spock for Stonn, with Spock looking clueless no doubt given it needs to match up with Amok Time.

I think I noticed for the first time that there are more female main characters than male main characters.

Then again - Pike is such a square-jawed, stern leading man's man, he counts at least twice. Which gives us gender parity.

5 female characters versus 4 male characters. Honestly that's fairly even (if you count Pike twice.)

Yeah, the dialogue in this trailer is a bit awkward and cringe.

That being said, I vastly prefer what they are going for (snappy & a little bit snarky) over the "I am the sad center of the universe speeches" (DIS) or the "meaningful foreshadowing of the mystery box meaning" (PIC) style of dialogue.
