Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

What reassurance? This could just as easily be shit as it is to be awesome, but it is a year away. It is fun to shoot the shit about it, but there's no reason to put any emotional energy, good or bad, into it at this point.
Any acknowledgement whatsoever at this point.

Kirk learns how to be a better Captain under Pike's tutelage.
Has a small amount of potential.
He was one the weaker elements in a weak movie.
Hard disagree. Picard and Data were and I kept waiting for Kirk to show up.

In the past 4 years I have been told the writers suck repeatedly.

What does that mean?

Now I'm suppose to shift gears and be all for it with the only reassurance of "Wait and see?"

If you spend the next two years prehating it without even knowing what they're going to do, you're going to spoil your perception to point that anything they do will be disappointing and validate the two years of your life you spent prehating it.

What does that mean?
Pretty much the repeated drum beat in the Discovery and Picard subforum is how much the current Trek writers suck. Trek forum is even worse. And Akiva Goldsman is on everyone's shit list.

Nah, I'll be mad for a bit and then move on and not bother with it.

Sometimes all that's left is to make chicken salad out of chicken shit. There are probably a good 25 current shows that I've seen that have better writing than current Trek. But they aren't Star Trek...

Yeh, my point was what does "you've been told" have to do with it? Do you like the writing? Do you like the shows?
It doesn't inspire any desire to go forward.

Having shoveled chicken shit for two years that analogy is probably the worst one. I ain't making salad out of that.

Star Trek isn't worth it.

Treks about in middle for me. But I might watch a lot of crap.

We all do.

I hung with Discovery for a lot longer than I would've most bad shows I've seen. I wouldn't have even entertained watching Picard again, but it is Picard. Actually having Patrick Stewart goes a long way in making the show watchable.
