There was also a Mr. Singh in the Enterprise crew in TOS, in "The Changeling." He's the Indian/South Asian-looking crewman checking on equipment in the laboratory where Nomad is listening to Uhura sing.
Yes, McCoy and Kirk both stated positive things about Khan, largely that he maintained the peace without mass killings or something along those lines."Noonien Singh" could be like a future version of "Castro" or "Assad". Having baggage, but also not necessarily being as uniformly despised as "Hitler" or "Stalin". I'm not 100% up on my TOS lore, but weren't they also praising the guy quite a bit? In a Napoleon bad-but-also-impressive-way?

It seems they feel the need to give a reason why someone would leave the Utopia of Earth to go out and experience the danger of space exploration.Yeah, it's not what I would have done. I get some fans like that stuff but I'd have avoided it and still gone with the same or similar character beats.
Not everything in the galaxy has to be the product of tragedy.
Good to see you back. It’s been awhile"Singh" is quite literally one of humanity's most common names. Imagine "Emperor Smith".
"Noonian" on the other hand? I think that's not even a real name, is it?
Maybe it's some type of title for the genetically superior? Like "Noonian Singh", "Noonian Wayne" and "Noonian Müller"?![]()
Then he can't be related to MontalKhan or even CumberKhan. There was also a Mr. Singh in the Enterprise crew in TOS, in "The Changeling." He's the Indian/South Asian-looking crewman checking on equipment in the laboratory where Nomad is listening to Uhura sing.
Why does everyone have to be a thing. Cant we just have characters who dont have a memberberry backstory.THR:
“She’s related to Khan, for sure, and, uh, and the deal will unfold…” Goldsman said. “We don’t want to bring folks into the show to be splashy. We want to dig deeply into characters that are part of our ensemble and then, obviously, we’re open to getting our arms … but right now, what you see is what you get.”
Didn't they make his skin darker with makeup in TOS? His skin seemed a lot lighter in ST2.Yeah, I love Cumberbatch as an actor and many of his characters, but that was probably one of the worst case of miscast whitewashing in recent memory. True, Montalban wasn’t of South Asian/Siekh descent either, but at least he looked the freakin’ part!
Who are the confirmed orphans among the major characters?
TNG: Crusher
VGR: Neelix
Which Crusher? Wesley had his mom, and we know Beverly was close with her grandmother, but I don't remember her parents being mentioned either way. As for Neelix: he lost his family in the war, but I get the feeling he was a young adult by then.
I believe Beverly's parents were said to have died when she was a kid in "Sub Rosa".
