"Hit-Hit-t It-t-t!"

What i find odd is how much uncessary focus is giving to romance.
Romance has always been in trek but it was subtle and never the main driving force.

Some episodes are just like a full blown rom con with little science fiction

I thought I was the only one who had this issue but all the criticsm have said the same thing

Apparently the writers of snw come from a cw network background so it makes sense they cannot write good sci-fi and have to turn the show into a soap opera

As for Spock what a total disgrace to the character. How many girlfriend does he have. Tpring chapel laan in like what ...a year

Ah gone are the days quinto Spock got a lot of flak for dating only uhura for like 7 years with a lot of class and maturity and lead drama.gone are the days kirk was slammed for been a player with the ladies.

Spock in snw is now the male version of carrie Bradshaw from sex and the city.very immature needy and a joke.

Also why does chapel do more medince than the actual doctor

Also ridiculous that Spock pinned so much for her when in TOS he could care less if she breath so now he is with khan niece

It's crazy how much snw has destroy cannon. jj abrams trek did not even go this far not even close and jj trek stuck to science fiction actin and adventure

It's crazier that I see some fans making excuses to justify some of the nonsensical aspect of snw

Oh and do not forget the constant buffy rip offs

They actually didn't. Season 3 began filming in December 2023 and was set to conclude in May 2024. Season 4 began filming in March 2025 and was set to finish in August 2025.
That is a year which is not enough time to get feedback. season 4 had already wrapped before season 3 aired. It is very likely season 4 will have the same quality as season 3.

I know the showrunners are blaming the writers stikes for a poor season 3 but writers strikes many times do not affect the over quality of a series. other shows were affected by writers strikes but still kept its quality.

That's very different than being shot together though! S4 was just filmed before S3 was released, which is what happened with S2 and S1 as well.

Even if season 4 is the same quality as season 3, it would still be pretty decent. I've admitted to being somewhat disappointed by this recent season, but overall I still enjoyed it. There's no way to know until it comes out though, so we'll just have to wait and see how it turns out!

I don't get the Boyce love. He was dull.

The speech with Pike is what I think most people like the best. Remove that scene and people would care about him as much as Colt or Tyler. Which is not to much. Plus he is a old guy with wisdom. People like old people with wisdom.

I dunno if this "apparently" is meant to be a joke, but that's not true.

What is true is one of the co-showrunners. (Henry Alonso Myers) was co-showrunner on the SyFy show The Magicians. Honestly, if you watch the show, you'll see a lot of the DNA of SNW, including:
  • A lot of focus on relationship/interpersonal drama between young people.
  • After a pretty dour, serious first season, the show veered into a more light tone, with lots of comedy elements.
  • Tons and tons of pop culture quips/fourth wall breaking stuff.
  • A musical episode every season.
The Magicians is a fantastic show, though. Especially Seasons 2-4. Honestly, aside from the Expanse, the best SyFy original of the post NU-BSG era.

Tell me you've never watched Star Trek without telling me you've never watched Star Trek.
Star Trek is many things but subtle isn't one of them.

Science Fiction is often a secondary and even tertiary element in Star Trek.
As for Spock what a total disgrace to the character. How many girlfriend does he have. Tpring chapel laan in like what ...a year
He's a serial monogamist. So what?
Also why does chapel do more medince than the actual doctor
She's a medical professional, It's literally her job.
Also ridiculous that Spock pinned so much for her when in TOS he could care less if she breath so now he is with khan niece
He got over her and decided to keep her at a distance. Happens in real life. Khan's niece??? There's like three Centuries between the two. Not sure if their exact relationship has been established. Most assume he's her great great great grandfather or something.
It's crazy how much snw has destroy cannon. jj abrams trek did not even go this far not even close and jj trek stuck to science fiction actin and adventure
Canon (one "N") can't be destroyed. It's simply the collected works. The word you want is "continuity", which is actually more fluid than canon. Trek continuity is constantly being tweaked. Dates changed. New information added, old information ignored or over written and unheard of spouses, children, exes and mentors appearing out of the woodwork.
The Kelvin movies exists in its own timeline. There is no "canon" beyond its own.
Oh and do not forget the constant buffy 0rip offs
Never really seen Buffy. I know they did a musical episode, but what other "rip offs" has SNW done?

NURSE Chapel. It's in the title. (Not everything will have changed by the 23rd century.)
She does more medicine than the actual doctor and knows more than him. She also had more knowledge than her fiance Dr Koby in the aspect of Archaeology. He was the one following her lead

Chapel is constantly shown to be more resourceful and knowledgeable than everyone else. I assume this is why many imdb user reviews kept on asking why she gets so much screen time and wondering if it is meant to be the same character from TOS, who actually did mostly nurse duties.

Is star trek about science fiction or romance? when you think of star trek what comes to your mind first.

Mins is very simple. In my mind I think of

Science fiction as a strong back ground to the entire series
time travel
wormholes
alternate realities
action and adventure
diplomatic issues between two or more species
Intellectual Political themes and social commentary
Human interaction in a respectful and mature manner

I would think of these things first before romance and even when I think of romance, it is a good romance that is written well, little soap opera and very respectful to the characters. SNW lacks this so badly.

"KIRK: I understand you gave up a career in bio-research to sign aboard a starship." (TOS What Are Little Girls Made Of?)

Chapel was massively underwritten in TOS. WALGMA is pretty much her only featured episode.

Yep. Sadly.

She gets things to do in other episodes such as "Amok Time" and "Plato's Stepchildren," but actual character development and backstory building? Yeah, sorry, kids, this was 1966 through 1969. Her hair doesn't even change color until the final episode of TOS!
