[NODS IN GEORGE LAZENBY, ROGER MOORE, TIMOTHY DALTON AND PIERCE BROSNAN]
Of course. It's a TV show and they recast requires zero hand waving.
In the 1970s when TAS was made, everyone still thought the world was made up entirely of white men, and thus Robert April was drawn to reflect this belief. In the 2020s people responsible for casting on SNW realized there was more to the world than just white men and cast an actor to play Robert April that reflected this reality.
That's all the explanation you need.
His TAS mustache was meaner than Clubber Lang in a boxing ring. How mean is Chief Kyle
Any ideas on how SNW will explain why Admiral April changed so much physically to match the Animated Show? I was thinking that he suffered a freak accident and ended up stuck that way.
The Animated Star Trek show is canon according to Lower Decks. And this is Star Trek where freak accidents happen a lot.
Nothing is canon like I have said before except STAR TREK:ORVILLE! Time for everyone to embrace the truth about REAL Trek!Ignoring Yesteryear is quite the feat.
Also nice that Lower Decks isn't canon either. That way they can hang out with TAS together.

Sounds good in theory until one realizes I never wear underwear and my nightgown might get real clingy!Red Forman sprays drunk Superman with a hose.
TMII never wear underwear
Or they didn't cared that he was white in TAS and cast the actor they wanted. Not sure the canon status of TAS was even in the picture.Maybe. But I don't think that was the reason why SNW cast a black actor for a character previously shown on screen to be white. I think it was simply that TAS has always been flip-flopping in the canonicity department.

Sarge: Son, the only thing i need to do is stay red and die.Nothing is canon like I have said before except STAR TREK:ORVILLE! Time for everyone to embrace the truth about REAL Trek!
Very doubtful. That's possible too, since adherence to 'canon' is not CBS's strong suit. Not that that means that I have a problem that they cast a black actor for the role. I could care less about that. My point was that it was doubtful that TAS was even on their radar. So yeah, I agree. Now with that said, would they have cast a black actor for Pike, or Kirk? Doubtful.
Trust the writers. The problem is, if we can't even guarantee that prime universe characters look something like the actors who play them, how can we be sure of (the facts of) anything?
