One, it's not about redemption but trying to grow.

The boy scout comment strongly implies that David does not know Kirk is is father until David and Carol have an off screen conversation while on the Enterprise.

“Why didn’t you tell him?”
“How can you ask me that?”

It’s a bit explicit that David does not know because Carol never told him.

Loki literally tried to destroy Jodenheim (sp?) and all of the frost giants.

Then he gave a speech in Germany about how freedom makes us all miserable.

He doesn't eat people. So, advantage Loki?

I just watched Thor. Loki wants to wipe out the Frost Giants, and an entire realm. Pretty sure that falls under genocide.

And who is cheering on Georgiou?

I think a lot of it is just that she was born and raised in a fascist society that eats people, and we get the Terra Firma two parter in season 3 which shows that these aren't things she would choose for herself after being exposed to a different way of life. I don't think I'd hold it against the character for not being able to see outside their own context

Protagonist's aren't always a hero. Protagonist just means the central character of the story.

Being a protagonist does not mean "cheering on."

I thoroughly enjoy Chronicles of Riddick but certainly don't find Riddick someone to cheer on. But, it's a drama, not prescriptive.

The audience is absolutely cheering for Riddick.

Just as the audience was meant to be rooting for Loki and will be rooting for Georgiou.
