Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

And another thing. Is everyone able to sing this well except me? I had the same thought back when Buffy the Vampire Slayer had its musical episode back in the day. These actors aren't hired for their singing abilities but they apparently can be at the very least coached into making a damned musical, and it works! That's impressive, and I have no idea how they do it.
You can hang out with Anson Mount and Alyson Hannigan (and probably Carol Kane).

But yes, they landed a very sing-y cast.

I'll be glad to sing. It won't be the best experience you'll have that day, nor even within that same room, but I have more stage confidence than I once did. And if I love the song you'll be able to add blind confidence to the mixture.

I've karaoke'd "Country Boy" by Glen Campbell so I know my confidence is wholly unearned. But I had fun doing it.

Speaking of that episode, although it was funny to see Klingons singing an autotuned trash modern song, it wouldn't made more sense to have them sing Klingon opera.

Except Klingons already sing opera.

The idea of the episode is discomfort around both singing randomly and then the emotions revealed.
Yeah but I doubt Klingons keep much of a human repertoire of songs on their ipods.

The genre of music changes nothing of the emotional content.

It's a space time fissure that causes random bouts of musical interlude and genre is the questionable part?

Also, please note I said it was also embarrassing, not just emotional content, impacting the genre.

Finally, it's an absurd episode. Logic is far from its strong suit.

An alternate version was filmed where they do sing Klingon opera, which was included on the Blu-ray. The K-Pop version was the correct choice to use in the actual episode.

Actually it does change things a great deal. The whole reason the Klingons were showing up to attack the anomaly was because the fact it was making them behave in a manner they don't typically, which threatened their honor. Since we know they sing opera while on duty anyway, what reason do they have to attack the anomaly now? They're going to destroy the anomaly that's making them sing opera just so they can go back to singing opera?

I trust you can see why in that particular scenario showing them singing K-Pop made far more sense.

Random _human_ English songs! I'd just have been interested to hear what embarassing _Klingon_ songs sound like. Translated of course.

For the same reason the human characters didn't like being forced to sing? Just because you enjoy doing a thing when you feel like it doesn't mean it's fun doing it by being forced to, right?
