Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

IIRC, some of them got turned into early TNG episodes. And yeah, not too good, indeed.

I think I'd like to see their take on Kitumba, despite the fact that the STNV fan production already did a treatment of it themselves.

I just finished a complete rewatch of DSC.

It's probably been mentioned, but I'm hoping for more Sarek and Amanda. They did those characters proud.

Harcourt Fenton Mudd is a Mudd...must have. Even a repeat visit by Queen "Po" if it fits in somewhere, if for no other reason than she's adorable..

Of course a lot of this depends on the number of episodes and number of seasons we end up seeing, but the more "episodic" nature should allow for the appearance of these characters.

Post Cage to WNMHGB could give us Boyce or Piper as CMO.

To be fair, masculine aesthetics were not the same in the 1960s as they are today. Fit, yes. Muscle-bound no. Look at the other leading men of the day. None of them were hard-bodied. Shatner looked just fine.
It does feel that the standards for "manliness" in general culture (and which reflects in our art like tv shows and movies), around the world, have gone up to extremely high, possibly unattainable for many, levels in recent years.

It doesn't help that we're all working more than ever before. Even during quarantine with home work at this time. The last thing most men want to do after a hard day's work at the office is go to the gym. If I did that or took martial arts classes or whatever, I'd see my cat even less than I did (pre-quarantine I mean, now I work from home during the pandemic).

I recall reading things (in the 50-Year Mission?) about how the producers were not happy with the weight that Shatner began to put on even by Season 2, which required them to be much more judicious in what camera angles they used.

In my estimation, Mudd should really not encounter the Enterprise (and especially Spock). He'd be a better fit over at the Section 31 show, maybe even as an asset, given his history with Tyler. They could probably do something with Baron Grimes and his organization, though.

Boyce may have retired and Piper might come along with Kirk, so the show could quite reasonably feature a brand new CMO.

Mudd would certainly add something interesting to a S31 show, and based on many reactions over these months, it could use the help. No reason he couldn't appear in both. I really liked Rainn's more malevolent take on the character.

Mudd encountering the Enterprise before might be ok as he's pretending to be someone else in his first TOS appearance, but he can't encounter Spock. Maybe they'll have to have Spock away on a mission every time Mudd shows up.

Pike: Spock, you missed Mudd again!
Spock: Fascinating.

Spock can have his mind erased or memories tampered with. This would be their chance to erase any Burnham connection even more. Get ride of all that Burnham inside him so he is all set and ready to turn into Nimoy soon.

Do NOT give them ideas.

I don't want them doing with Spock what Smallville did to Lex in their last episode.

They'll do a prequel of Amok Time taking place in 2260, 7 years before the TOS episode. Spock's actual real first Pon Farr that he later kept secret. After Mudd connects Spock with a female Orion friend of his to "help" him with his Pon Farr of 2260, Spock officially denies the whole incident ever happened and states he will deny knowing Mudd if they meet in the future. Mudd, ever the opportunist, then provides the video he secretly recorded of said "help" to T'Pring in exchange for a not insignificant amount of latinum. Enraged by what she sees in the video, T'Pring starts an affair with Stonn leading directly to TOS.
