I don't know if gangly is the term I would use. Tall and thin he isn't. Awkward movement? That part of the definition I can see.

I tend to agree. I'm the first one to try and say 'don't obsess over continuity...' but Uhura and 'Nurse Chapel BOTH served under Christopher Pike with Spock?
It sort of casts a bad light on Uhura who we did have on the ship and on the bridge in TOS - "The Menagerie" - so to not have her comment of Pike's situation...
As for Chapel, she first appeared assigned as a new crewmember/scientist in TOS - "What Are Little Girls Made Of"; and again, no real comment to Spock, after serving with him under Pike years earlier...
Dr. M'Benga - I'm neutral on in that he's one character they could add with very little 'continuity baggage'; BUT that said, if he's the CMO under Pike; it's strange that he's back on the 1701 years later but NOT a CMO and working as a subordinate to Dr. McCoy.
But the above said, I'm excited to see what they do and if they try to 'thread a continuity needle' or not with some of this. If they don't it really won't bother me to much.
As for the updated uniforms - I think they're fine. They do seem to be a fusion of "The Gage" era uniforms and what will be the TOS uniforms. In fact I kind of like they ditched the 1701/Discovery era Constitution class uniforms.
I also liked that they took Spock back to a more "The Cage" like appearance.
Again still really chomping at the bit to see this show - and looking forward to it a lot. I am disappointed we didn't get a real teaser/trailer, but I liked what I saw from the various character shots,

We'll probably get Archer references. I hope so anyways.

What age was M'Benga supposed to be by the time we first see him in ST:TOS?
Nyota. It was made canon in the JJVerse first.
Booker Bradshaw was in his thirties(?) when TOS was in production so I'm thinking the new actor could easily fit in since he looks about 30?
So no actual teaser released, just introductions to characters and the reveal of new uniforms? Really bummed that's all they could do today, given this is an anticipated Trek show.
The actor was in his 20s.
