And I was just thinking it had been too long since we had a random video posted with no context, no discussion points, no elaboration, and most likely is clickbait. In fact, that's Clickbait Bingo!

The whole "alternate timeline" bullshit is just nonsensical gibberish. Enjoy the show or don't, it's just fiction and by its nature takes place in a continuum where there are no facts and the narrative is forever malleable and subject to revision.

So far my headcanon has been that 'Cage' and 'Where No Man Has Gone Before' uniforms are dress uniforms for the occasion of the Rigel Mission and the groundbreaking galactic barrier trip respectively.

As for the bridge design, a less "explodium" bridge module was swapped in for both the Rigel mission and the very dangerous galactic barrier crossing. After Where No Man Has Gone Before, the bridge was then refitted completely into the traditional TOS bridge, with the sparse look due to an ongoing Starfleet asset and resource shortage going on at the time (not unlike our current real life chip shortage).

I pretty much just skipped through different points of the video, saw he was speaking faster and faster, with more and more gibberish as it went. No need to waste time in my life on it.

My take? It's a series that leads into TOS. Same universe and timeline, leading up to Kirk assuming command of Enterprise.

Some folks just need to sit back and enjoy a TV show.

The Enterprise's first mission to Talos IV, SNW, and eventually "Where No Man Has Gone Before" all happened exactly as we saw them. Any visual inconsistencies are due to them being the products of the times the were filmed in.

One has the right to make one or more productions apocryphal, but nevertheless they're all canon even if they don't visually match up.

I personally have been thinking of it as an alternate timeline, but one pretty close to TOS. Like when Worf's birthday cake changes flavors in Parallels and the picture moves from one wall to another. ;)

Dr. M'Benga shouldn't be CMO here, IMO. Sick Bay shouldn't have its own transporter. Captain's quarters are feckin' 'uge. Chief Kyle ain't a scrawny asian dude. Spock shouldn't have a sister in the 30-something century, and the Enterprise herself is over a hundred meters longer than the TOS version. Not sure how that maths out in terms of internal volume, but the ship is feckin' 'uge compared to the original.

So, alternate timeline. But I love the show and am enjoying the hell out of it.

Rave all you want, haters. "And these characters that you spit on as they try to change their worlds; are immune to your consultations, they are quite aware that they are in a different timeline." -David Bowie (Timeline 2) ;)

I've thought about the ship living quarters size thing and can only think that by TOS they increased the number of people posted aboard ships and split up the larger quarters to accomodate.

If the bridge can be swapped out so can other parts of the ship.

Alternate timelines is just overthinking fussiness. If it helps, great, more power to you. Not for me.

A YouTube rant by some basement dweller, is hardly evidence that SNW exists in an Alternate Timeline.

Do what you want as far as your own 'head-canon' goes, but stop trying to convince other's that only your ideal is the correct one.

It ain't gonna fly.

If it makes you happy, it can’t be that bad. If you want to think it’s in an alternative timeline, if it makes you feel warm inside, then knock yourself out and believe it. Denying reality costs nothing. It doesn’t change reality though.

On the video, Nick/Ketwolski is a top guy, a good Trekkie, and loves the franchise, but that videos was at least a year ago and way before the start of SNW. It’s no longer relevant.

spoiler for Picard
Wesley's statement in Picard that his joke altered a century of history could be a shout-out or easter egg soft confirmation that he somehow altered the 23rd century entirely, at least cosmetically.

Only people who dare move outside their "all youtubers are haters" bubble will realize that ;)
And Georgiou could absolutely still show up and then his prediction would be right.

No I didn't watch the video.
that explains why you missed his Guardian/Georgiou/S31 reasoning :p

are the kelvin films gibberish? do all the other shows and movies have "no facts"? :D

Looks like a garbage video to me. What's next? Are you going to post a video from Doomcock, or some other idiot with a webcam and a PC?

I like Ketwolski just fine. Posts here from time to time.

I still not a fan of Trek YT. Nor the alternate timeline nonsense.
