You apparently found it important enough to comment on it.

More irritating than important. It's not your opinion of Sam's moustache. It's you bristling at another poster's suggestion that people find Tom Selleck attractive by responding as if we're supposed to be guessing at your personal preferences and preemptively accommodating them.

I'm glad you liked the show. I "Liked" your review. People can have different reactions to different things that people say.

That mustache is an achievement of 23rd century human society above and beyond the food synthesizer and handheld Universal Translator.

Why is no one else irritated by the sudden scoring system change? Honestly, I'm surprised by the passive reaction to all this. How does this not bother you at all? And why don't we deserve an explanation for the change? We all know that 10/10 means excellent, so why is it NOW 1/10 and so accepted quickly? Why wasn't it even announced or discussed to begin with? That pissed me off because to me a 10 means excellent, and even though I didn't score it a 10, I did score it high through the old scoring system, only to be told it meant I was voting it as being bad. That's some bullshit!
Because 10 point scales are bullshit in general.

No, it doesn't. And now that I think about it it's really annoying. But I'm gonna step back and walk away from this one.

I'd need to rewatch the episode, but is it possible they picked up Spock after departing Earth and just didn't show us that bit?

Everywhere I go today, most people are praising a new Star Trek episode.

This feels weird.

I know, right?

Tres weird.

I think that's entirely possible. I'll keep it in mind when I rewatch this evening.

Here's one - why are the landing party in uniform when they beam down but materialize in civilian clothes in an alley? A few tweaks to the transporter's transmutation circuits? ;)

One might even say...in the world.

I'll leave now.

This confirms that Spacedock is not, in fact, Starbase 1 as some of us believed.

Unfortunately, no.
Spock was already aboard when Pike beamed into the transporter room from the shuttle.

I'm going with the assumption that the Enterprise didn't actually leave the spacedock by 18:00, like the Admiral wanted and it actually took a lot more time to get everything ready.

Trek Admirals don't always get exactly what they want.
(I also think it was just a ploy by April to make Pike hustle)

Repost from the general thread:

I liked it quite a bit.

I thought it was a competent first episode. One focused on a tight group of character to begin with, which is a good idea. The plot was relatively simple but effective. The dialogue was ok but not great. But those are all expected from first series episodes.

I don't have any particular negatives, and a number of positives. The designs and sets are pretty great, and the episode made me chuckle a few times, which is good. On the whole I'd say it certainly feels more like Trek than the more recent outings. If it stays this course it could be a very interesting series.

...

Love the opening, glad they included the good ol' monologue. I'd rather binge-watch the rest, but I didn't want to have to avoid spoilers for the next couple of months.

We're yet to see Hemmer much but so far, as I expected, La'an is shaping up to be one of my faves on this show.

Just finished watching it. Loved it. Adrian Holmes' Robert April was interesting. Love to see more of him.
