I could watch the premiere and count everybody in the Gate Room, but I won't.

And you still wouldn't have everyone, since most of the folks in the gate room when they first went through in Rising were security teams, and a lot went through before the science teams at the end.

Not that this is something I've dealt with recently or anything.

And you can't trust those shots, either, just because of production limitations (the number of extras they could afford to hire or fit into the set and so on). It looked like there were a few dozen Athosian survivors who came through the 'gate in Rising, but in later episodes there a lot more than that.
