Spotted an Andromeda prop!
Watching season 4 of The Outer Limits and in the episode Identity Crisis are the drop pods from Andromeda used as mind transfer chambers
I think you are correct. A lot of props on Andromeda came from other productions.Season 4? Was that in 1999 or 2000? Andromeda might have been reusing the OL props.
From what I remember watching from Season Five, a lot of the planet bound outdoor sets/location looked like they came from Stargate SG1.
Andromeda started out great, but turned pretty unbearable quickly. But if there is one Roddenberry show I think needs a thought-out remake, it's Earth: Final Conflict.

You know I've never watched a single episode of EFC.. Is that worth a spin once?
The first season is a pretty good, thoughtful, intelligent science fiction series, although the original developer/showrunner was fired halfway through the season and you can see early hints of its decline in the latter half of the season, IMO. The later seasons are generally silly and shallow and abandon or dumb down the concepts from season 1. So I'd recommend watching the first season and no more.
Thanks. I will make sure to get only season 1
It's basically "V" but with a lot more nuance and moral ambiguity.
When is was at SFX, witing the Spoiler Zone sealed section, I asked for EFC synopsis. Instead I got internal comments, such as 'No, unless the alternative is a shutdown.'According to what the producers said on the fan boards, the issue was that Tribune's execs were driven by profit above all. They didn't want intelligent, thought-provoking shows with complex ideas, they wanted lowest-common-denominator action shows that were simple enough to be marketed internationally across barriers of language and culture, and thereby make them more money in global syndication. Also, they prioritized short-term money-saving over long-term gains, so rather than investing the money it would've taken to create a well-made SF future, they cut corners everywhere they could. And they fired experienced showrunners and replaced them with cheaper ones -- or maybe it's just that it was cheaper to fire producers after a year or two and hire new ones than to shell out the annual raises that veteran staffers would be entitled to (this is probably also why they had so many cast changes).
So it's not that they hated SF/fantasy, it's that they defined it differently, as a vehicle for action rather than ideas, aimed low to make a quick buck rather than aimed high to create something that would endure.
Being a Puget Sound native and frequent traveler to Vancouver B.C. growing up, it's always fun to watch shows like Stargate, Andromeda, The X-Files, etc and see locations that you've visited.
The old Expo 86 buildings get a lot of use.
Just curious, are those buildings in use, abandoned, or kept as film locations?
During a vacation of mine in Montreal years ago, there were French-language reruns under a title that I believe translated as Invasion Planet Earth.I always found Earth: Final Conflict to be a very awkward alternative title. I'm not sure what would have been a better title, though.

I think overall EFC is far less of a trainwreck than Andromeda wound up to be. Every season (even in season 5 if you squint real hard) has interesting characters and worldbuilding. But yeah, be prepared for several drops in quality if you go past season one.You know I've never watched a single episode of EFC.. Is that worth a spin once?
