Starfleet Academy Official Trailer

A fair critique, especially regarding an insider putting their ass on the line for a small youtube channel.

That said, I looked into the podcast and found nothing to suggest they are liars. Not journalists by any stretch, just opinionated fans like the rest of us. With a channel. And probably some sources.

I looked into the Sony claims made by the podcast and found them to have merit; Sony did publicly express interest in Paramount, with formal bids that made headlines. The podcast also started talking about a stargate reboot in 2024, which were confirmed just recently to be in pre-production, with the reveal having indicated it was being planned 18 months ago.

I don't know the podcast well. I may have watched three or four of their videos. Its entirely possible this forum has experience with it giving bad info. But I couldn't find any.

I get the sentiment though. There are a lot of grifters with channels that claim "insider knowledge" that are full of shit.

Next time I'll start with "random youtuber says" so I don't trigger the forum police :p
A credible source has told me that Starfleet Academy has been greenlit for a third season, which will start filming this summer after Alex Kurtzman’s contract is renewed. Also, the cancellation of Strange New Worlds has been undone, with the show continuing under Goldsman as Star Trek: Year One. The Archer show has also supposedly been greenlit for at least two seasons, with filming set to begin in early 2027 at CBS Studios in Mississauga.

See? I can also make shit up.

Oh, I want to play too!

Don't forget Paramount committing to five full seasons of Section 31, and due to a contractual commitment with Michelle Yeoh are required to produce all five seasons regardless of ratings and critical reception.

And then there's the astonishing return of William Shatner as James T Kirk, done in response to fan requests and a desire to return to "true" Star Trek.

This is fun. Anyone else?

Sony's purchase of Paramount would've violated U.S. law. (Companies that are based outside of the United States are legally prohibited from owning American broadcast networks. Rupert Murdoch had to become a U.S. citizen in order to launch the FOX network back in the eighties.)

We have a dedicated thread for 'dubious sources'

It was Sony Pictures that showed interest, and they're an American company. They're a subsidiary of Sony Corporation of America, which is again an American company, but is in turn a subsidiary of Sony Japan.

If there was a legal issue, I don't think they would have bid on it. Unless they planned and challenging that law in court.
