Whose names would you put on the wall?

The Ambassadorial corps has been folded into Starfleet by that time? Continuing education courses in diplomacy? Or perhaps former Academy staff who need not be student alumni qualify.
By what time? Spock's service? His death? The day they put up the wall?
Spock is an Academy graduate.

Preston appears twice on the wall

Wow, talk about a waste of time/money.

They should have just made the wall out of LED panels, would have allowed the same effect for a fraction of the cost.

I think it’s cool that they are doing this kind of stuff, because it supports the fan theory that in-universe the wall is programmable matter and able to show different names from the various centuries of Starfleet’s history.

I find it interesting that Gene Roddenberry is omitted.

Honestly, I always thought it was silly they put him on every dedication plaque as Starfleet's Commander and Chief. Especially once they started listing names on the plaques in other centuries. He's there on the Enterprise B's at the end of the 23rd century and even on Relativity's in the 29th.

And before anyone starts on "oh they never expected those plaques to be readable to the audience" by the time they did the Enterprise B's in Generations, they knew it was likely. By that point, the Enterprise D's plaque was represented in various forms for people to look at, such as the Encyclopedia, and indeed the Journey's End TV special which commemorated TNG's ending even had Jonathan Frakes reading out the plaque, Roddenberry's name included. Definitely by the time Relativity came around, they knew there was a very legitimate probability someone was going to pause and try to read that plaque. Hell, a scene even starts with the camera focused entirely on the plaque, so they were basically daring the audience to read it.
