No, the things that went wrong with S31 were very specific to S31. I'm pretty sure I won't like SFA as much as DSC, but I'm absolutely sure I'll like it better than S31.The show feels from the trailers like a very direct sequel to DIscovery. I think people are likely going to hate it almost as much as the Section 31 movie. Or it will be case of people liking the adult characters but find all the cadets to be annoying.
When I actually see it, I'll let you know. Are we going to get the kids' story? And then the adults' story that continues from Discovery?
It is in the same time period as Discovery. So this gets all of the Discovery baggage then?
I originally thought it would exist as its own thing. Now, that doesn't seem likely.

Yes, and given the popularity of the 24th/25th century trek series vastly outstrip the popularity of Discovery it is highly likely that the network executives will eventually openly retcon Discovery 31st century into being an alternate timeline so their isn't the inevitable shadow of The Burn hanging over their more popular shows.

Everyone knows that Starfleet Academy will be the worst!*Amazing how much someone can glean from a short trailer. You're not just predicting your reaction, you're predicting everyone's. Remarkable. Do you win a lot of money on sports betting and lotteries with your precognitive powers?
As an official stance? I don't rule it out as a possibility, but the reason why would have to do with legality. If Secret Hideout's contract isn't renewed, if things are handled badly, and if Paramount can't use anything from Secret Hideout afterwards, then they might decide to set aside anything made under Secret Hideout, just to make things neater and easier for them. I personally don't think this is the way it's going to go; I believe things will be worked out (renewal or not) but I do think there's a non-zero possibility that things might not be worked out. So, I'm not going to dismiss it outright. They will never set Discovery aside as its own alternate timeline.
Schmaltzy & melodramatic. Saccharine. Exactly as expected.
“Masculine energy”? Now why the fuck should the show have that?Feels like it has about as much masculine energy as an episode of Sex and the City.
Looks really bad.

Yeah. What the heck is going on with the Klingon student? Doesn't seem like the traditional klingon male. Very thin and small stature. I think even i could best him in battle. Lol
It's been the worst day since yesterday.Everyone knows that Starfleet Academy will be the worst!*
*worst since TNG was declared the worst, then DS9, then VOY and Abrams kind of ruined Trek, and the Discovery did too...damn, Trek has been ruined a lot.
"Small stature?" The actor is six foot two, according to IMDB.What the heck is going on with the Klingon student? Doesn't seem like the traditional klingon male. Very thin and small stature.

There's room for a very interesting story here with him not being a Worf clone.

Can't get a bad or good feel from what been shown. So far the best I can say is generic. Both as Trek and in a broader entertainment sense.Looks really bad.

Being set in the same Century and using DISCO characters in reoccurring roles didn't clue you in?So this gets all of the Discovery baggage then?
